Review summary

The cast and crew on the Ship were Fantastic!  We got a balcony room & it made it even better. To be in your own room sitting on the veranda deck as we called it watching the water, taking breakfast on the balcony & the people on shore was wonderfull!& well worth it. We had never done it before but from now on it will only be with a balcony.

The flea markets off shore were terrible!! Like locusts demanding your money. It was OK for them to lower their price but if you make an offer they get offended & mean.  I would not go to either "Market"

The shore excursions were very fun bought both from & enjoyed them greatly.  But plan on tipping your driver as he "only works for tips."  Strange country Bahamas.

Over all a great time on board.

Ship tip

Parking - Get information as to where EXACTLY the driver will pick you up. If you are in the wrong place, you will miss your shuttle and will have to wait (up to 45 minutes) for the next one. Have the driver point out where he will park for pick up. Not all of the signs are correct.

Ocho Rios was amazing and my family loved it. Did not have that problem at all.

actually they say Royal Caribbean wanted to take the full tab to built the port and shops but local government say no because then RC was going to run the show there on they're own terms so I guess some agreement between both parties makes the port rewlly tourist friendly with locals

well I dont know about the port near ocho rios I have never dock there but as I was told by a Royal Caribbean crew member the port @Farmouth was recently built in an agreement with government and Royal Caribbean there 50/50 on that part of the island,so I figured it's been controlled and warn to local residents if they want the business a cruise line can bring to that newly built port for that part of the island, they'll better behave I guess they say we can't keep messing up with tourism which is a big financial venue for the island, lets start off on the right foot... my guess but they we're really friendly and not bugging as much.

ocho Rios was horrible with people bugging. I don't mind asking me to see their shops. but when I say no thank you and they keep bugging and following us making my family uncomfortable... then I had to get indignant. I know its how they make money but I'll only go so far accepting that behavior

farmouth Jamaica really nice port nice friendly people ,lots of local artesians really humble,we took a trolley tour around town to see some of the historics sites, even out there on town outside the port people friendly yes trying to sell like everywhere else but not the hounding feeling like Belize,at Belize they chase us down for blocks as we walk around trying to get us into local tours, bunch of locals behind a fence yelling at us offering they're own tours and kind of scary, we wanted to rent a car and venture out as we do in many ports but Belize port only has one car rental place and about 3 or 4 people walk us there that have nothing to do with the car rental they were all trying so hard to get tipped on for anything, car rental joint wanted $1,500 deposit im like no way,we shop few things and went back to the ship.

I'll see for myself in May.

Sigh.. Read up on how CCL imports Jamaicans to do their tours and excursions instead of hiring locals sooo I would be trying to get my money also.

I recently visit Jamaica for the first time and I though here I come ready to deal with lots of people hounding for money but I was totally impressed about how quiet it is at the port which I end up spending good amount of money on locals tours and shops without any pressure.

ttprodr    8 years ago

local governments should regulate the hounding on some of those ports to leave a good taste on tourists, after all cruise lines dump 3,000 plus tourists every so often that helps the local economy there but if people feel too pressured they stop booking or debarking on those ports which ain't no help for them.

mr gamer1 you exactly know what I mean when I use the term "money hungry",we all in need of money especially the working class as I am and even worse those poorest country that cruise ship docks on but some countries are not too regulated when it comes to hound tourists for money like Belize for example which doesn't leave any good taste to go back and venture on your own or even go back to those ports where you practically have to fight people off your back so you can have a pleasent time, we all money hungry but not all have the politeness to make that money without hounding people, thats not a way for locals to atract tourists to spend they're money on them, instead they scared them away.

Ttprodr "money hungry"? I guess you were given all your money... I guess if taking care of your family makes you money hungry... pissing money on cruises and shaming someone for trying to make money makes you a special kind of person.
