Review summary

This was only my second cruise.  Overall we had a great time!  All of the Carnival employees, from the waiters at the pool, to the people that serviced our rooms were friendly, genuine, and provided excellent customer service.  The entertainment on the cruise was awesome.  We attended the 2 main performance shows and several smaller shows or events.  All were very fun.  Our excursion in Nassau was great - Blue Lagoon.  The excursion in Freeport  (Snorkeling, Beach, and Straw Market) was pretty good.  The snorkeling was fantastic, but the Straw Market was very disappointing.  Based on the show that we saw on the TV in our stateroom regarding the straw market, we were expecting something very different than what we experienced.  The shopping in Freeport was mostly tourist trinkets.  The process for embarkation and disembarkation was seamless and made it very easy for us.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food in the Main dining room for dinner was excellent.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The activities during the day around the pool were fine, but being up on the stage instead of right on the poolside edge made it difficult to participate in.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The two main performance shows (Divas and Motor City) were excellent. We loved how they got the audience involved.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All of the staff on the Carnival Fascination were superb!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Everything on the ship was nice and clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The room itself was very nice. The beds were very comfortable. The location of the room was near the laundry area. The hallway was constantly noisey at night, with carts rolling by and people talking. That made it difficult to sleep.

Ship tip

If you have a chance to go to the Blue Lagoon in Nassau - do it! The Imagination dining experince is wonderful - it is worth the effort to go to the main dining room for dinner. Staff, service, and food were great. Don't miss the Shows! Entertaining for all ages! Best part of being on the ship.

Ports of call

Stayed at the Holiday Inn Express the night before the cruise. Nice hotel and located around the corner from the port. They offered a shuttle service to the port if you wanted to leave your car at the hotel. We found parking at the port more convenient and was the same price. The employees working the port were all very nice.

We went to the Blue Lagoon on our excursion. Fantastic! Great beach, beautiful clear blue water, excellent lunch, great entertainment,

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island

Reef Snorkeling was great. Even the bus ride to the pier was fun - Jack the driver was very entertaining and shared with us fun facts about the area. He even sang us a song! The only thing disappointing was the straw market. We expected vendors making handmade straw items and there was none of that. It was mostly tourist junk and t-shirts.
