Review summary

Okay cruise; been to Nassau several times; probably won't go again.  Ship is dated, but okay.  As usual service on Carnival was excellent; food good except for Lido Deck buffet at lunch where all the food stations were extremely crowded.  We've sailed 3 times on the Fascination and had never encountered this; never got to sample the Chinese or Deli because of extremely long lines.  We thoroughly enjoyed Little Stirrup Cay; didn't know what to expect as we'd never been to one of the cruise line islands; the weather was good which helped.  The cruise met our expectation which was simply to get away just the two of us and find some sun and warmer weather.  Will definitely sail Carnival again, but probably not the Fascination.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Lunch buffets always crowded; breakfast in dining room just so-so food.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
We don't really participate in much of these, but the ones I witnessed looked okay.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Same show was repeated two nights; never encountered this; one night no "musical type" show, but instead a game show.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Carnival has always been at the top of the pyramind on service. They do it right.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Ship is dated, but okay.

Ship tip

Not sure I would spring for a suite again on this ship; not that much different than a balcony room. Save yourself a few bucks and just get the balcony classification.

Ports of call

Jacksonville, Florida

JaxPort is easy to get to; parking is no problem; we were one hour from hotel to lunch on board.

Nassau, Bahamas

Undergoing lots of renovation which is needed; been there several times. Probably won't go again for a few years.

Little Stirrup Cay (Cruise Line Private Island), Bahamas

We loved this; had never been to a cruise line island; weather was great which helped; I'm sure it's awful if the weather doesn't cooperate. Great little island.
