We expected a little better experience, especially better food, but overall would probably go on another Carnival Cruise, on a newer ship. The crew did a great job, love how the company supports St. Judes, this cruise would have been a much better value had it not been a New Years cruise. We have been on Disney, Royal Caribbean & Carnival, & I would rank the overall cruise lines in that order.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Excellent, fast, simple, no issues
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
We were highly disappointed with the food, with only a couple of exceptions. The special New Year's Eve dinner with prime rib & grilled shrimp was good, & their signature chocolate molten cake was always very good, but beyond that I can only say that the burgers from Guy's burger joint were good, the other meals in the dining room left something to be desired
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Waterslide was fun, though our grandson wasn't tall enough & had a melt down, they were constantly cleaning which was nice, ship was old, but being maintained, even during the cruise (paint, etc.) Theater was nice, so was spa. For an older ship, it was sufficient.
Entertainment
2 out of 5
Bingo was nice, country music review was a joke, didn't attend other shows
Children's Programs
3 out of 5
The only real complaint was there was no slide for small children & the water pressure for the splash pad area was so low it wasn't really a hit with the kids. The Cat in the Hat breakfast was very nice. Crew did a good job.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Catalina in the dining room did a great job, We have no complaints about any crew or service.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
The layout was somewhat confusing but we figured it out, climbed a ton of stairs. They were constantly cleaning throughout the ship.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Nice cabin, enough room, clean, well maintained, toilet had flushing issues a couple of times, but resolved themselves
Ship tip
It is an older ship, so be prepared to see some wear & tear, but they are making efforts constantly to keep it maintained, don't expect award winning dining
Lots of shopping at the port, and restaurants, we took a van to Mr. Sanchos Resort, which was crowded but well worth the money, snorkeled, saw tropical fish of all kinds, unlimited food & drinks, good value compared to any other excursion
