I love to cruise however, I will not go back out of Mobile unless the ship is a different. Fantasy needs to be retired.

The Karaoke and the Punchline Comedy both were held in small areas you could not get into either of these venues. The AC throughout the ship was on the struggle bus which made going in these tight venues, not an option.

Overworked, short-staffed, rude and grumpy. My grandchildren asked for a ranch dressing in the dining room and were told I don't have any help and you're not going to get it tonight. My son has a but allergy and the very first night we told them we needed a basket of bread without seeds and nuts they exchanged it, however, every night thereafter it was the same process we had to make the same request. On every other cruise, we have been on we told them the first night and never had to mention it again.
Ship Quality

Old run down needing to be retired ship. Elevators in atrium never worked and I have been told they have been out for months, plumbing issues throughout the boat it was normal for every bathroom I went into if it had 3 toilets only one would be working my husband said it was the same in men's bathrooms as well. Our toilet in the room was out of service for 10-12 hours one night I called guest services they told me all of the front of the ship was having trouble and they were aware of the issue.
Cabin / Stateroom

Smaller than I have had on other ships, no robes to use which are supposed to be standard, no big blue towels in the room for pool use. Our room steward was overworked and was not as friendly or outgoing as we have experienced on other cruises. Our neighbors were a very young and heavy partying crowd which equals yelling, banging and beating on walls all hours of the night to the point even my 19-year-old son was frustrated with them.
Ship tip
Avoid this ship until its replaced! Sail on another ship.
Beautiful, clean, and a place I would go back to again and again. Mr. Sancho’s Beach Club is amazing and worth every penny. Food, drinks and the staff was awesome! I had a massage by Alma and I recommend you ask for her she is very sweet and has magical fingers I didn't want to get off her table. I wanted a blanket and a nap.
Will not go back to Barefoot Beach and honestly not sure I would even get off the ship in this port. It is dirty, smelly, and you are constantly solicited by the people wanting you to give them money. The waitress even offered my son weed. They were kids handing out joints on the streets. Kids appearing to be 12-13 yrs old walking around drinking. We left our excursion early and went back to the ship. I have never felt so unsafe in a place and so much relief to make it back to the ship.
I was on this sailing as well, 8/10/19. I was just down the hall in E147. I have no complaints about our room steward. If you want a robe, just ask, they will bring you one. This was my 11th cruise with Carnival and it ranks 10th out of 11. They were definitely short staffed. We tried to be patient knowing they were doing the best they could but after several days of grumpy staff almost everywhere, it started to get to me. I don’t like to be one to complain but I have sailed with them enough to know what the standards are and this was below their standards in several areas. Nevertheless, my husband and I had fun. We’ll keep cruising with Carnival but probably not on this ship again.
In a little over a month we will be on the Fantasy again, for the 5th time. We think we have therefore sufficiently rewarded Carnival with our custom for putting a ship in Mobile again. It is delightfully easy for us to get to, but every time we sail, there is something else broken, the previous broken items have not been repaired, and the number of locations with funky odors keep multiplying. We have not had any negative experiences with the crew, yet. But it’s clear Carnival doesn’t care about the ship, and it’s only a matter of time before that attitude spreads to the crew. Perhaps it already has. If your boss doesn’t care about your work environment then you won’t care either.
This will be our last trip until the ship is replaced. Then again, Carnival might pull a “Holiday” again and retire Fantasy and just not replace it.
I’ve recently read reviews where cruisers just loved the Fantasy. Critiques are personal perspectives. (We’ve never had a rude staff or a ship we thought should be retired). We will cruise her in September for 10 days and even though I’m sure we will find it’s not be a perfect ship, I’m confident that we will enjoy her...
We enjoyed Fantasy. We never experienced anyone being rude, it was the opposite. Extremely friendly, every one knowing us by name-which I thought impressive. It is an older, smaller ship but to me, that is not what makes a good time.
The Fantasy is an older ship aimed at first-time and budget conscious cruisers. A longer itinerary on a newer ship will usually be a better experience.
