Review summary

This was my first cruise. I dislike water, I cant swim (too many times almost drowning when I was little trying to learn) and I do not like boats at all. So, my wife says "Let's go on a cruise for our anniversary!!" and how do you say no to that?! To put it quickly, it was AWESOME and will definately do it again. Glad we picked Carnival and the Fantasy ship. The crew and food were wonderful, the shows were insanely funny, and even though the trip to Cozumel wound up being to Progreso instead, it was still a lot of fun! 9.5/10, will do again.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Everything went ok except the porter at Port of Mobile was a jerk. Wouldn't let us get some stuff we just bought into our bag or carry on without being rude and then kind of held us up demanding a tip. If his name plate wasn't covered, I'd have reported him. L

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The only thing that wasn't a 10 on the ship (food, rooms, service, all) was me trying to be forced to buy the drink package because my wife was. I'm allergic to alcohol in that my throat swells and I cant breathe. If I knew we were made to BOTH buy it, I could have had the requested doctors note before hand. Everything else was great.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
The main things we did on the ship were the Comedy Club (John Wesley Austin. I hurt and cried laughing so hard!) twice, karaoke was cool, Hasbro Game Show was neat also. I cried at the Love and Marriage show, it was so funny!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We saw John Wesley Austin twice. I laughed so hard I hurt and cried!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone was fantastic!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
You can tell from the rooms that this is becoming an older ship, but it was very clean and well kept. The only thing that would have been nice is 2 115v outlets instead of 1 to use with phone chargers and to charge our underwater camera.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin was very nice. Again, you can tell it is an older ship, but it was well kept and in good shape. Bed was comfortable as well as the pillows, plenty of blankets. It seems like it was near an engine, but I think that helped me sleep better.

Ship tip

Pick a room on a higher deck unless you dont mind stairs. The elevators aren't very fast and like to try to close quickly and eat you.

Ports of call

Mobile, Alabama

5 out of 5
The only problem was a rude, demanding, pushy porter.

Cozumel, Mexico Did not visit port

We were fog delayed leaving Mobile by 5 hours. We were rerouted to Progreso instead.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Fast and easy. Had no trouble at all.

My husband was the same way. Took three years and me saying I'm going and he can come before he gave in. I am a non-swimmer and afraid of the water. He couldn't understand why I'd want to cruise. Now he plans all our cruises. #11 coming up. Happy cruising and welcome to the group.

Iā€™m glad you were able to enjoy yourself! Same here, almost drowning as a child a few times...but I taught myself to swim & love the water!
