Review summary

We enjoyed the time together but the cruise wasn't what we expected. We thought it would be more elegant. We also there would be more activities to do. I didn't enjoy the food, either, for the most part. I don't like buffets. The meals served in the Jubilee Dining Room were good but not extravagant. I was tired of junk food by the time the cruise was over.

I hated the fact that the smoking in the casino was not blocked off. I couldn't walk by there without my clothes smelling like a cigarette.

Cabin / Stateroom

I thought the cabin was comfortable and more roomy than I expected.

Elegant on Carnival? Just the name suggests a certain atmosphere, you can't expect to be treated like royalty at the county fair

I never cruise Carnival before , never heard good things about it but here I have learn that is not so bad, try Royal Caribbean and Norwegian not so elegant like Celebrity I think but you find little more sophisticated for sure.

Carnival is the farthest from “elegant”, you definitely booked the wrong cruise. Unfortunately you’re now spoiled on room size as Carnival has the largest cabins. You may want to consider Celebrity, Holland America or Princess in the future. Also, avoid 3 & 4 night cruises, they tend to attract partiers and a less sophisticated clientele. Even my teenagers find the short cruise pax to be annoyingly low brow.

Also Carnival staterooms are actually larger than Royal Caribbean and Norwegian so if your room was too small you may want to go with a suite on another line.

Carnival is a Fun Ship so if you're looking for elegant try Celebrity or Holland America. The Carnival Fantasy is the oldest ship in the Carnival Fleet so wear and tear is expected. Prior to booking a future cruise on any cruise line research first and if you're paying $200 for a cruise chances are it's an older ship and shorter cruise.
