Overall, I would not recommend this cruise to other first time cruisers or the ports. It was not a great first experience and I hope others will have a better one. It was not well organized in regards to activities and entertainment. The ports were not at all thrilling or excited and quite honestly, the only way to enjoy them would have been through the expensive excursions.
Embarkation
2 out of 5
Not well organized, chaotic, allowed some people who weren't priority through priority.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
As a vegetarian, not a whole lot of options that weren't carb loaded
Onboard Activities
1 out of 5
It was limited. The pools were overloaded with children, the adult section was also overloaded and there was no pool. The gym was decent, however, a large amount of the equipment did not work.
Entertainment
1 out of 5
Good grief. Only had movies two days while we were on the cruise and one of the times was when we were at port. No movies the TWO nights we were at sea. Not enough kid activities. A lot of single mixers and art auctions. Not what I was really looking for on a cruise. Honestly pretty boring, especially the last day when we were at sea since it was cold, windy, and raining and there was not a lot to do.
Children's Programs
1 out of 5
I didn't have kids, however, it was clear that there was not a lot for them to do. I did travel with my nephew and he was frequently bored. For the Cat and the Hat theme, there was barely anything which was super disappointing.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The staff were fantastic and friendly. The only complaint is that they were looking for a resident on the boat and went into the room speakers at 0600 after starting around 0430 and then there was not notice that it was all clear. It would have been nice to know this individual was found that they had been looking for the last two hours in the early morning.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
My only complaint was allowing smoking in the casino. It took over the whole floor at times and the smell was horrendous. Not trying to get lung cancer on a cruise.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
It was fantastic.
Ship tip
It's small, not well organized so if you're new to cruising, look at bigger boats!
We did have some wild dogs follow us around the island as we walked it. They were very sweet and friendly. The beach on the local side with the ship wreck was neat.
I think it might be a good idea for inexperienced cruisers to use an independent cruise agency who could direct you to the type of ship better suited to your likes and preferences.
A short cruise on an older ship during a holiday is not the best option. Try a newer ship on a longer itinerary when schools are in session for a better experience. Research the ports ahead of time to find good options, including independent excursions. You can usually find several good options for less than $ 75 per person or just go to a local beach.
