For my first cruise, this went better than I expected based on reviews I had read. I did a lot of research to know what I was getting into, so I felt prepared for the little bumps in the road I ran into. My cabin was great, the staff was wonderful, the food was more than okay and the entertainment was fun. I definitely got my monies worth.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation was easy. I didn't experience any lines or troubles at all, it was smooth sailing all the way to the ship.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Main dining room was great. There was a good selection every night, and as always you can pick and choose anything you want and in whatever quantities. Main dining room sufficed so much that I never felt the need to hit the buffet.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
I think this is one of the areas that Elation is lacking. When comparing it to other ships, I feel other ships offer so much, but hopefully with it's redo, there will be some new fun things.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Rock show was great, one of the comedians was excellent the other was just okay, and the other entertainment throughout the boat was good as well.
Children's Programs
No kiddos for me
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Staff was incredible. It's amazing that after a day they know your face and your favorite poolside drink. This was one of the highlights for me.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
We get it, Elation is old.....but it was still a serviceable ship.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Since it was just 1 person, my cabin was more than enough for me. The Aft balcony was great to sit out at night or early in the morning to ponder life.
Nassau was fun, had a great burger and drink at the Bearded Clam and then walked along the water and checked out the straw markets. I wish the sidewalk to walk along the water was larger though, because the people trying to sell things do become a bit aggressive.
I was a little worried about Freeport because of the fact that it was such a commercial port area, but we went across the island to Taino Beach and really had a great couple hours of beachtime in the sun.
