Cabin / Stateroom

1 out of 5
our bed kept separating, one of us would wake up between the mattresses. our shower flooded the bathroom floor , we called a number to tell them. they wouldn't even answer. also the room was fairly warm the whole time with the air on all the way, and no one would check that out.

Ship tip

even though you pay for gratuity when you book your trip, get ready to pay more on the boat. it isn't all included like it says.

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

we did not do an excursion but we liked the island and the beach.

Nassau, Bahamas

It's too bad that you didn't enjoy your cruise on the Elation. Where did you need to tip more after paying your gratuities? If it was for alcoholic drinks, the FAQs mention that. We've never had to tip more, but we do tip when we order room service.

It would have been disappointing to board the ship so late, but there may have been a medical emergency or maybe the ship was going through their regular tests and the officials would not let guests on. Sometimes they notify guests of the reason for late embarkation, but they are not obligated to.

i hope you give cruising another try. We've only cruised with Carnival, and only a jandful of times, but we find it to be cost effective, relaxing, and so much fun!

Sorry your first cruise didn’t go well. Think of it this way, your next one can’t be any worse. My advice, try an Eastern Caribbean cruise next time. Just, give them some time to rebuild. Stick with Carnival ( maybe the Breeze or the Glory ), or try Norwegian. Just come here and ask questions if you have any.

If you didn’t board until 7? Then you were on the first cruise out of drydock. Sailing was delayed and emails were sent to guests to adjust their arrival/Check in times.

Lots of other cruise ships, cruise lines, and departure ports out there. Try something different. Good luck on your next adventure.

Not certain if it was the age or the size of the ship, but all Carnival Fantasy Class ships are very similar. We don’t mind them at all, but sailing on the Freedom is certainly a different experience... there are a number of larger, newer Carnival ships to try. Having said that, we also cruise Celebrity and Princess, and enjoy them as well. (We’ve never been disappointed in a cruise).

Sorry you had a bad time. Do you know why the embarkation was delayed. Sounds like the had a medical emergency, but sometimes you never find out. If, you paid you standard gratuities with your booking, you didn't need to tip anyone again unless you had room service. It is included with every drink as you order and that is mentioned before you order. I am not sure where you had to tip more. This will be true on other cruise lines as well. I hope you find what you are looking for in a cruise, if not with Carnival, with another line. We find cruising such a good value. We have sailed with Carnival 31 times and we know that now and again there is a sailing that everything seems to go awry.... but that is exception not the rule.

Sorry you had a bad experience. We've sailed on Elation twice before (once out of NO and once out of JAX) and had really good experience both times. We've sailed 17 times on Carnival and NEVER had a bad experience - - soooo, give Carnival another chance, you'll probably be surprised.
