Review summary

This was my first time on a carnival ship and my second cruise ive ever been on. my very first cruise i went on was Norwegian Sky. I did not enjoy my cruise with carnival. We got faster to the fun so we wouldn't have to wait in the long lines to get on and off the ship and we enjoyed all the amenities that came with it. When we first got on the ship  we went straight to our room to see what it looked like and find out where it was located. Right after we arrived my bag came.It took 30 minutes later before my husbands bag came. With getting faster to the fun it was supposed to ensure we  would have our room ready when we arrived along with our luggage waiting for us when we got up there. After his luggage finally arrived we noticed our toilet would not flush. We called guest services at least 4 times along with them coming to fix it 3 times before that actually ever fixed the problem. We did not even leave the port of jacksonville until around 630pm due to electrical probelms.  Next when we had booked we had chosen our time dining and all of our paperwork said our time dining. we did not realize that on our room card it actually said our dining was 6pm. So when we went to go eat dinner around 8pm we could not go into the dining room to eat.  We had to go to guest service and physically bring our papers down there and show them we had our time dining on it before they would correct THEIR mistake.  After that on the second or thirs day of the cruise my husband was checking our sail and sign card and saw there was  over $100 extra charge on our account that we did not spend. we went to guest services again and they said it was an extra gratuity added on and that is was optional. they never asked us if we wanted to put extra gratuity on our card nor did they inform us of putting it on there. thankfully we had it taken off. and if it wasnt for my husband checking our balance and all our expeses we would have never known about it. on the last day on the ship on the fun at sea day they had a girls makeover party where they showed us lotions and stuff to cleanse our faces and on the pamplet and everything we were told was that everyone who atteended would get a free makeover. their free makeover included a brozer that was more of a blush putting it all over my face making me look like i had sun burn then using the same bronzer putting it on their finger and rubbing it over the top of my eyelid. i was the only person they did that to. and i do not consider that a makeover at all.  and everything they did before that was take all of our makeup most of us had on right back off for us to walk out of the room looking like crap. and lastly on our fourth night on our cruise we were at the casino  and i was at a smoking table playing blackjack. there was a very rude cruiser sitting at the table the whole time commenting on me smoking harassing me and fussing at every person he saw that was working in there. instead of them calling security or asking him to move to another table they told my husband there was nothing they could do and that he would have to deal with the gentlemen.  this man was so rude he made everyone sitting next to me leave the table because of him. the only reason i did not go was because i refused to let the man push me away from a table i am more then welcome to sit at. never have i ever had such a horrible experience on a cruise. its not just the carnival elation but more the people working there at the time. a lot of the people working were wonderful and so nice but a lot of them were just not doing their job properly

loved my cabin minus the toilet issues. the person tending my room was so sweet and always got us everything we needed. but the room service list was very poor

Ship tip

always check your sail and sign balance while on the ship and keep track of your spending to ensure your not getting charged stuff you shouldnt get charged for

to those saying gratuities are offered when you book, i actually did add them onto my booking so they were already payed in full. as well as i never blew smoke into anyones face ever.  i am much more respectful then that

Sounds like none of your complaints were really complaints. No body needs to be rude but if you have the right to blow smoke at someone don't they have the right to be a jerk? I hope you didn't stiff everyone of their tips.

I sailed on the carnival elation in January and had a wonderful time. Great food, great people, sunshine, warm weather, rum tour in Nassau (was amazing) and a good free beach. Cheapest cruise ever and was still great.

I'm sorry you feel you were treated unfairly but in all honesty, you didn't do your homework. Gratuities are added and even offered to be included in your payment when booking. Agree the facial was free so your complaint is mute. All you had to do at the table was politely remind the man that he was setting at a "smoking" table and the error was his fault. Mistakes are made all the time in dining options and agree they are not the "fault" of costumer service. Just an honest mistake. We stayed at the JW Marriott in Cancun once, the toilet also wouldn't flush. 💩happens. FTTF luggage arrives a whole lot sooner than those who have not purchased.

@jbattle48 People are ignorant....

Let's see, fttf does not guarantee your luggage will be in your room when you board. Any cruise we have been on, your 30 minute luggage arrival is very good. The toilets on any ship are not like yours at home, a lot more complicated. Guest services did not make the mistake, they did not issue you your sail and sign card. The gratuities are added to everyone's bill. It is not an extra gratuity, but a regular gratuity. The makeover was free....cruising is not for everyone.
