Review summary

Our 5 day cruise was a bit disappointing. We picked it because of the timing. Check in was actually better than we expected, but as soon as we were on board it seemed like every which way we turned, Carnival had their hands out for more money and it distracted from our vacation.

The service was great, the food was basic, entertainment was good, afraid the service staff is overworked, debarkation went well, disappointed with meeting the crew, and probably won't go on a cruise for a good while or at least not with Carnival.

The ship was beautifully decorated for the holidays. And that is that. Thanks for asking! Feedback is a gift.

Cabin / Stateroom

We were told we would have a double fold out sofa, but that was not the case. It was broken and basically had a couch for sleeping for 5 days.

Ship tip

Be wary of the excursions. They can cost a lot and you don't always know how much of a bus ride you might be taking and many times you can find alternatives for doing the same excursions for much, much less. Might also want to wait until the weather to see what makes sense for you.

"hand out for money" please explain I haven't been on many cruises but was never bothered to buy things I didn't want, well not from the cruise line. in port was another story. they can't force you to buy anything just say no thanks and walk away

Yeah I dont understand that either? What are you paying extra for? You can cruise as cheaply or extravagantly as you want. People get off the ship with absolutely no bill, other spend thousands. I've been very disappointed in the Elation before also, but never for the reasons you stated, so just curious.
