I’m a Carnival fan, but won’t set foot on the Ecstasy again. We had a fun little getaway for the value but I honestly wanted better from Carnival.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
We were able to walk right on board with Faster To The Fun.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
The drinks were fine, but the food was not what we expected. Compared to previous Carnival cruises it wasn’t good at all. Our dinners in the MDR and food from Guy’s was the only good food. Lido buffet and breakfast was disgusting the entire cruise.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
We expected more activities for those who stayed on the ship at port... very disappointing.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
We enjoyed the piano bar and live music.... but didn’t catch any shows.
Children's Programs
Did not cruise with our kids
Service and Staff
2 out of 5
Worst service and staff we have ever cruised with. This crew wasn’t friendly at all. It made the whole cruise less enjoyable. Some days are room didn’t even get cleaned and we had to go find our own toilet paper and towels.
Ship Quality
2 out of 5
This ship stunk! There was a diesel smell in the MDR. The hallways smelled like sewage. It is old and in need of some fine tuning.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Room was fine. Plenty of space and we love balcony rooms.
Ship tip
Enjoy a quick getaway for the price, but know it’s not top of the line and not what we usually find out of Carnival.
It was good to see them rebuilding but Carnival should really put some better clean up effort into this port and help these people. At least get all of their windows and signs repaired.
We made the best of it too but it was our least favorite out of 7 cruises and not because of size. Just underwhelming food wasnt that good if driving go to Charleston the sunshine is 10 times better.
We did the Jan. 18 cruise also. Even though it was a nice getaway. There was issues. The bathroom smells like sewage and the buffet was the worst I've had on Carnival. Smaller ship more motion of ocean.
We did the ecstasy last Halloween for my daughters birthday. We enjoyed ourself but wont do that ship again. The smell was outrageous. We have learned not to do short cruises.
It used to go out of Charleston. I loved that little ship, perfect for a short cruise. The service and food were always better on it than any other ship I've been on.
This is an older ship on a short itinerary from a non-traditional port primarily aimed at first-time, budget conscious or party cruisers. Try a newer ship on a longer itinerary for a better experience.
