Review summary

Our family enjoyed cruising! The food, ports of call, and onboard activities were almost all a hit with our young teens. Our only real complaint was the odor that was a problem twice on board. We spoke with one of the ship's plumbers, who explained that it is only a problem when they are at port (and the 2nd day at port they must have flushed the system as the smell was gone after that).

Embarkation

If you arrive at the exact assigned time you are sent straight to a very short line!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The restaurants were wonderful, the buffet was about average for buffets. Food service was excellent everywhere.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
The water slides were a great for 4-10 year olds, older kids might get bored. The sports deck was fun, high winds made the games almost impossible though. The arcade was also a fun activity for a day at sea.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The PG comedy show was fantastic (Larry Omaha) however the music shows should be rated PG-13 for the costumes and dancing, especially the America Rocks show.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff were all extremely helpful and courteous.

Ship Quality

2 out of 5
The ships layout was good. However the Ecstasy has an AC/Sewage problem that can really stink up the hallways. Our cabin never stunk too badly and they were able to clean out the system at port, not sure why they did not do it everyday though.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We ended up moving cabins (water leak) and all 3 were very clean and well maintained. Our first cabin slept 4 with 2 pullman beds, very little floor space, but a nice space to be together. The other 2 cabins slept 2 and therefore left much more floor space, which was convenient. Our first cabin was on the lowest floor mid ship, so we did not feel much movement of the ship. Our cabin change took us up 2 floors and to the very front of the ship where we felt much more movement. However, 2 of us are very susceptible to motion sickness and neither felt ill the entire time!

Ship tip

Be prepared for a bit of a smelly ride at times. We read reviews that warned us of the possibility, so we brought essential oils to use in our cabin.

Ports of call

Jacksonville, Florida

5 out of 5
The port is very close to the airport and major interstates. It is also nice and small which makes parking or transportation a breeze.

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island

4 out of 5
Although Freeport is recovering from hurricane damage still, they did offer quite a few excursion options. If you plan to wing it, beware that there is not really of a town to explore(or at least not one a taxi would take us to).

Nassau, Bahamas

5 out of 5
Great town right at the port! Plenty of excursion options and shopping/dining. The town is pretty walkable, so exploring was great. The Dolphin Encounter excursion was great, the only bit of advice I offer is be prepared for very high priced food since you are on a small island with no other options.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
The line moved very quickly. We did wait to get off until after 9am, enjoying a relaxing breakfast in the dining room first.
