Review summary

We were celebrating 26 years of marriage. We had this cruise booked a year in advance and looked forward to it! We thank God for the great memories we made and making it all possible. I think you usually get what you expect and we expected to have a wonderful experience and we did!

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Embarkation was so organised and quick. Our official scheduled boarding time was 12-12:30, but of course we were excited and planned to arrive early just in case we could get on board early and we did! We arrived approximately 11 am to parking lot and were on board by 11:35! The only reason for 4 stars is the parking lot shuttle that we took had no luggage racks and everyone was told they had to hold their luggage bags, nothing in the aisle. That was bizarre, even a family with a stroller had to fold it and put on his lap. It was crazy, next time even being excited we will either walk our luggage (short distance - and we did coming back) or wait for a bigger shuttle.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Excellent! Plenty of options available even a deli for hot sandwiches or delicious wraps! The omelette bar offered in the mornings was also nice! We choose the sit down Wind Star dinning room probably 4 of the 8 days for breakfast and varied the other locations.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Sorry about the 3 stars, however activities on this cruise was not important to us. We mainly wanted relaxation and we got it!!! We mostly used the Serenity deck. My husband and I have an extensive ITunes Library and with a little Bluetooth speaker that he brought along, we could listen to our own music softly between our two lounge chairs and he couldn’t enjoy writing on his laptop and I enjoyed reading on my Kindle. Absolutely fabulous!!!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Entertainment was Great!! We attended all the shows and the cruise director was Kyndle Fire and she was very good lots of energy! Did an amazing job!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All staff were friendly and excellent from the room stewards to wait staff! One night our wait staff even sang Happy Anniversary to us!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship is an excellent size and makes it so easy to get around from one end to the opposite end! We really loved that! We are fans of big ships too however the pros of smaller ships are many and they have their place. So we hope that Carnival will continue to offer this class of ship! In fact it would be totally awesome if they built some new ones in this size or similar.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
This was the first time that we chose a Port Hole room and it was FABULOUS!!! No kidding. The portholes gave great light (nice room darkening curtain available) and we had port side room so always a great view of any port we were at! Wish more ships offered port hole rooms!!!! I would always pick it! Having this option also gives you a large shelf under the windows to use as storage space! Our room was so organised!

Ship tip

Try out a porthole room! Honestly you are only in your cabin to sleep and we have had balcony rooms before but truly you spend so little time there!

Ports of call

Charleston, South Carolina

4 out of 5
We enjoy the Southern charm of Charleston and ate at a great little deli before embarkation!

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

This was not a highlight for us but we got off ship and walked a bit to stretch our legs. If it is a port we visit again, we will do a catamaran excursion if offered. The water was beautiful but no beach in walking distance.

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

Awesome! We did the Catamaran excursion here Golden Eagle! Absolutely wonderful and the whole crew was fantastic! We are not really drinkers but enjoy one or two island rum punches, however they continuously offered them and beer also, but also offered water or soft drinks too! And I will say no one over indulged and everyone had a great time snorkelling and at the beach swim also!

San Juan, Puerto Rico

We walked a lot and explored this city! Did not do a planned excursion. We really enjoyed it. Again we found a nice little bakery and had coffee and pastries! Took lots of pictures and explored part of the old fort! The port was very clean attractive and welcoming!

Disembarkation

We choose to carry off our luggage as we had one large bag and two carry on sizes. We were off the ship by 6:50am.
