Review summary

All in all it was a wonderful trip (a treat from my daughter)! There is always something going on (aboard and on shore) so you could never be bored. The food is great (and there is a lot of it) plus the drinks never stop. The staff are from all over the world so we loved seeing where they were all from. They are really what makes being on board special, they were wonderful. A fabulous experience!

Embarkation

Being disabled it was all made very easy for me though I must say, it was easy for everyone! I was surprised how quick and comfortable the whole process was.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food is very good, especially in the dining rooms. You can pretty much eat 24/7 if that's your desire and the range of food is also excellent. The cocktails were yummy and they had my favourite wine so I was all set! I bought the Cheers drinks package and found that very worthwhile.

Wind Song Dining Room

5 out of 5

The food was delicious in Wind Song, although the prawns and scallops were quite small. The steaks were perfectly cooked plus there were different options every night so the food never got boring. The 5 stars however are for the amazing wait staff (Clifford and Nancy) - they made each dinner time such a delight we never ended up going to the buffet restaurant for dinner. Wonderful.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Due to my disabilities we did activities like Bingo, Trivia games and the art auctions. All were very good fun and we greatly enjoyed them. We would have liked to have gone swimming but the pool was always full of kids. It's a shame they don't have another pool. My daughter is 17 so did struggle a bit as she is too mature for kids club but not old enough for some of the activities. The deck for 21+ is more what she would have liked as she enjoys lying in the sun and reading a book...kid free!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
While the performers aren't Broadway-level they are still pretty good. I enjoyed the different themes - American, British etc and wished they were longer!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff are all great but our wait staff (Nancy and Clifford) were superb and our room steward (Nur) went above and beyond. These three people alone made it all worthwhile!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship is older but is still well-maintained and clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The size of the cabin was good. I was traveling with my daughter but we were glad to have a queen bed rather than twins as the cabin size and layout seemed to be more workable. The bed was super comfortable and the shower was great! I was relieved to have a safe in the room but didn't like the tv over in a corner. Also the selection of shows wasn't great. The cabin was clean and we loved seeing the different towel animals every day...the hanging monkey being our favourite! We also loved the colourful, friendly staff Easter message on the mirror!

Ship tip

I would say to eat in the dining room for a relaxing dinner and to buy the drinks package. Don't expect internet as we got our payment refunded as it never worked (the staff say they mostly stop buying packages for the same reason).

Ports of call

Charleston, South Carolina

4 out of 5
Just a big old shed and quite different to what we're used to in Sydney! It would be great to have at least a coffee shop and somewhere to sit if you have to wait.

Nassau, Bahamas

We did the sub excursion (bubble head/underwater motorbikes) which was a lot of fun, especially having all the fish around us. The snorkelling was great too. The colour of the water is just amazing! In the afternoon we went to Junkanoo Beach for a swim and a coconut drink then walked around the shops. An easy, enjoyable day.

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island

5 out of 5
We did an island tour in the morning, visiting a perfume factory, a gift shop (where we saw the souvenirs being handmade) and a market. I tried my first grilled conch and it was yummy! The driver (Almondo) was amazing and we learnt so many interesting facts about Freeport and the Bahamas in general. Once back at the ship we hired a driver (Rev Walker) and asked him to take us to a beach that has no tourists. He took us to the perfect place so we could have our lazy, Bahamas beach experience. He waited for us and took us back to the ship in time to embark. Another wonderful day.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Disembarkation was very easy. We had to leave early so my daughter could get to school so we chose to take our own luggage. I need a wheelchair so we had staff assistance all the way to the shuttle, which took us right to where our car was parked (under cover). It couldn't have been easier.

Traveler Photos

The tourist-free beach where we spend the afternoon My first grilled conch...yum! Little market shops and food stalls around the ship Sub shore excursion - great fun!
