Review summary

We sailed with Hurricane Maria coming up the coast. We were prepared for the worst, but had a decent cruise...about what we all expected from this Fun Ship. We will sail her again....We would all love to have one of the Spirit Class ships assigned to Charleston.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Embarkation was easy and fast.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food in the main dining room was good and there was a lot to choose from. There seemed to be a lot of salt or msg in the food, because everyone in our group had swollen ankles. The wait staff were friendly and our food was brought to the table in a timely manner. If I has one main complain, it would be that EVERY SINGLE evening from appetizer to dessert, there was a child yelling and screaming, non stop in the dining area. He looked to be around two years old and the parents did not make any effort to remove him from the dining area and the staff made no attempt to put the vast majority's dining experience ahead of this terrible behavior. We asked to speak to the maître d who never came to our table....The buffet was about average...we did like that there was a buffett open until 1am, so we could get a bite to eat after the casino.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
We played several of the games...they were scheduled during other activities we wanted to participate in, so we missed some of them.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The stage shows, the bands, etc. were exceptional. We thoroughly enjoyed them.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Out room steward and wait staff were friendly and professional. The bar staff in the casino circulated all the time...great staff!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
I am giving this older ship a five star, even though it didn't have the bells and whistles a newer ship has. All the areas were maintained nicely and were clean and accommodating.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had an inside cabin. Usually we have a balcony, but this accommodated our needs nicely and was well maintained by the room steward. Since we live so close to this port, we will be able to sail more often if we book and inside cabin as opposed to a balcony.

Ship tip

I would advise to remember that this is one of the older ships and that you are not going to have four pools and other bells and whistles you would have on some of the newer ships. You are also NOT going to have long lines and long waits like on the newer ships....We had a really good cruise.

Ports of call

Nassau, Bahamas

4 out of 5
We went to the Atlantis Casino to gamble...it was not nice to us!!

Freeport, Grand Bahama Island

3 out of 5
We were here 20 years ago and it has hardly changed a bit.

Disembarkation

1 out of 5
I think everyone decided to leave the ship at the same time. Good thing we didn't have a plane to catch! The line was very, very long and very, very, slow....The worse debarkation we have ever had.

Sad part about is having to deal with the Custom officials that only look at your pass port.
