Staff was always happy, food was good, ship was clean, entertainment was great! It going to Princess Cays and the disembarkation process was very very disappointing. Other passengers were also complaining and I quote " these types of thing would never happen on a Royal Caribbean cruise" talking about extra food cost, cancellation of port, hidden cost and disembarkation process. Before starting the survey it was already 2.5 stars...made the best of it for our honeymoon
Embarkation
2 out of 5
Would have received a higher rating on my embarkation experience but the hidden cost of $100 just to park was never talked about and very disappointing disembarkation.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Don't order from the steak house unless you want an extra $20 charge per person, but the food was actually really good! Alcohol or wine was outrageously priced.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
Pool was pretty small and always had a lot of people, never any open pool side lounge chairs.
Entertainment
2 out of 5
Bingo, comedy club and piano bar was a great time. Others shows such as the couple game show was good time as well.
Service and Staff
2 out of 5
Everybody was nice friendly and ALWAYS happy, and very prompt if you needed something like ice in your stay room. Would have gotten higher rating if you could understand them. Gary had to explain what was going on after the captain would make an announcement due to his/their heavy accent.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Always clean and well kept.
Cabin / Stateroom
2 out of 5
Would have received 5 stars but the very first time using the toilet ( #1) the toilet plugged and overflowed on the floor, and because of the drain in floor the mess was left until they cleaned the cabin the next day. But with that said, the ramainibg time of the cruise it was very clean and liked the towel animals!
Had a onboard meeting on how special it was cause the ship has only been their 2-3 times and the water was crystal clear, snorkeling the reef were amazing etc etc. but ended up going to the Nassau cause they closed the port because of Hurricabe Irma. We booked this cruise specifically to go to Princess Cays, and we didn't go.
Got back to Charleston a day early(4ish) had the choice of staying on ship or leaving. We choose to stay due reports traffic was horrible from the evacuation of Florida. But we had to get off the ship, go thru customs, then board the ship the whole time being corralled like cattle, but worst part of this, once we boarded had to go sit in the blue sapphire lounge and wait for everybody else to go thru customs, and reboard the ship. Waste of 2 1/2hrs or more on our last evening on our honey moon. My wife couldn't didn't have time to get dolled up for dinner so we went very causual.
I'm still confused about what the original poster said about "hidden costs". Exactly what we're they charged for that WASN'T mentioned on Carnival's website and spelled out it the contract they agreed to when they booked the cruise? And about that $100.00 parking fee, as others pointed out, that was a fee paid to THE PORT. Carnival has no control over it. And if they had done a little research they would have discovered that EVERY PORT charges for parking your car there during your cruise, and $100.00 is a normal charge for a 5 day cruise. Also, there is a CLEARLY STATED UP charge for ordering from the Steakhouse House. But no one forces you to order from there. There is plenty of FREE FOOD available from the main dinning room and on the Lido Deck. Fran, the only viable complaint I saw in the whole post was about the backed up toilet. That sucked!
The extra hidden $100.00 has nothing to due with Carnival, try blaming that on the Port for the cost. But I will tell you that $100.00 Is standard for a 5 day cruise. Next time try a hotel that offers park and stay or a shuttle service. Try researching for cost cutting ways.
The toilet clogged because someone put something in it that wasn't suppose to.
Carnival doesn't hire Custom Officials, and these long delays are unfortunately are going to happen. Customs doesn't care that they need to get almost 2,700 people through their port in less than 3 hours. And keep in mind that every person has to go through this everytime we cruise.
I totally agree with you, Thornton78!! At least 1/2 of things people complain about are covered in their contracts, if they would just bother to read them
extra food cost? cancellation of ports are in the contract if a port isn't up to code due to weather (Irma) and yes even the RC would have to change ports if needed as well..
