Review summary

This was a bad experience on a 5 day cruise. On day two we were set to port at half moon cay (island carnival ownes). The port got cancelled and it was a beautiful day. So we were stuck on the boat another day. They gave us a revised itinerary that included nothing more than a bunch of trivia untill 7pm. Keep in mind everyone was up and awake at 7am to get ready to get off the boat. Everyone was mad and made for a really long dreadful day. Carnival offered us nothing except other ways to spend more money..we talked with multiple staff members and they informed us that this happeneds atleast twice a month at the same port. So you would think that they preped for this (they did not). Half moon cay was the only island (on cruise) that had an avaliable beach at no extra cost. At this time i had to change my excusion for nassau to one that was double the price just so we can see the beach. Due to the change we were rushed the whole day. Never had a chance to relax. The cancellation of half moon cay cost me an extra $200 and we didnt gamble or drink. I called carnival today (we got off boat yesterday) they basically said sorry for your luck try again. My wife had the same thing happen to her on the last cruise she went on with carnival. Carnival cruise lines have a problem but the customers are the only ones dealing with it. Pick a different cruise line you with be saved from stress on vacation

Omg... "Stuck on the boat" ... sometimes I like the boat more than the ports! Sorry you had such a bad experience.

Nassau has a free beach. Junkaoo (?) beach. I blame that on you because on our first cruise we asked a local and pointed us to that beach. They said the wind was the reason not to stop (wasn't on it but other people have said this so idk). They can't control the weather. You have to make what's best of your vacation. There's plenty of stuff to do to occupy your time. Sorry for the bad experience but don't expect a refund when they do all they can do.

Ports are subject to change or be canceled, it's not the fault of the cruise line. They have to do what's best for everyone. If you spent an extra 200$ than that's not their fault either. A vacation is what you make it, and if you made it a bad experience that's your own fault.

I also had a stop cancelled on RCL due to high seas but I would rather be safe than fight 10 foot waves.

I agree!! I was on the same cruise and that was the WORST boat!!

I'm confused. What's the $200. From? My last royal Caribbean cancelled out island because the seas were 12-15ft. You can't get on a tender like that. Any excursions we had booked were refunded.

Sounds like it wasn't the cruise lines problem. I don't understand the extra $200 either if didn't gamble or drink. I have been on cruises where it looks like a beautiful day but sea is too risky for the tenders.

Just curious as to why you "had" to change your excursion in the Bahamas? Did Carnival cancel it as well?

Any port that involves off loading to tenders (smaller boats to shore), is completely at the mercy of the sea. If the waters are rough it becomes too dangerous to move people between vessels.

Why did you spend an extra $200 for a missed port?
