Review summary

My wife and I recently went on our honeymoon on the Ecstasy and we couldn't be happier with our choice. The ship was a joy to be on and all our wants and needs were met with such wonderful service. Our room was immaculate, and the bed was very comfortable. Our stateroom stewardess, Bongkoth, always greeted us with a smile and never failed to ask if we needed anything. For the turndown service at night she would even make a neat little animal out of the towels! It was these little details that made the cruise so enjoyable, and nowhere was this more true than in the dining room. Our waitstaff, Jose and Bianca, were absolutely delightful and made for a great atmosphere even before we ate. The food was the crown jewel though, and we were very pleased at Carnival's recent addition of gourmet dishes by acclaimed chef Georges Blanc. I hesitate to put 6 stars on almost everything, but I just couldn't find fault with anything that we experienced on the ship. We are definitely going to go on another cruise after this.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
It's like eating in a five star restaurant every meal.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
They had a nice variety of activities for all types of people. We especially enjoyed the comedy shows.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Just super friendly and professional. Carnival must have extremely exacting hiring standards. It was also great to interact with such a diverse staff.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
It is a smaller ship compared to others in the fleet, but we thought it packed plenty of things to do and amazing decor.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We learned that it was recently redone, and it showed. Very classy, and made great use of the limited space in the room.

Ports of call

Progreso (Merida), Mexico

3 out of 5
This was not a bad experience for us, but Progreso isn't one of the more scenic locations in Mexico. We opted for a trip to the beach, which was good, but Cozumel was just way more fun than here.
Don't Miss: We had heard from others that the Uxmal Mayan ruins were very fascinating, though it involved some walking and climbing up stairs.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
It is a resort town, and has all the things that come with that status. Very pretty buildings, friendly people, but the crystal clear waters around Cozumel were the real beauty of the place.
Don't Miss: Snorkeling or some kind of underwater activity is a must because of the beautiful waters at Cozumel.

Pros: The food, service, activities, and value.

Cons: Progreso didn't offer the same amazing experience as Cozumel.
