Embarkation

Embarkation was quick and easy! We were supposed to get on at 10:30 but received a text to get on an hour earlier. Breezed right through. Highly recommend using the Verifly app, however other family members had paper documents and also went through without issues.

Good food / drinks with less people to serve them.

Pizzeria del Capitano

The pizza is good but…. If you are wanting late night pizza (after the adult only comedy club), be prepared to stand in line for an hour. It is the only food service open at that time and they only have two employees working. Again, they are working hard but also understaffed. They can only make 5 pizzas at a time and it is slow.

The Crimson Restaurant

Like other venues they seem somewhat understaffed, so bring your patience. The food quality was great and we enjoyed everything we ordered. Waiters were attentive and still gave the personal touch.

Guy's Pig & Anchor Bar-B- Que Smokehouse

The food is not bad. If you are looking for world class bbq, this probably isn’t it. However, the smoked chicken, bbq beans, and sausage were the best in our opinion. It’s only open on sea days, starting at noon and stopping at 2:30. Long lines and it gets hot waiting.

The Chef's Art Steakhouse

Steakhouse was great and our steaks were perfect! The atmosphere was awesome and the waiter was very attentive. They seem a little understaffed but they were busting butt to serve us. The cheesecake dessert was very good too.

Guy's Burger Joint

We love Guys Burgers every time we cruise however they are serving a cheaper version of the french fries (not hand cut) now.

Service and Staff

Room steward / staff was great! Very responsive to any requests we made. Servers were all working hard and did a great job for us. Charlotte at the Service Desk was great and helped make a difficult situation, manageable.

Ship Quality

We love the Dream’s layout and feel it is maintained well. They are always working / painting on the ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

This is an issue that I have heard on other reviews of the Dream but our air conditioner didn’t work very well because it didn’t blow at all. Even turned down to its coldest setting, our cabin stayed warm. If you book 2270, beware.

Ship tip

Take time to notice how hard the servers and staff work and be kind to them.

Galveston, Texas

Galveston has always been easy. Hotels, restaurants, and cruise parking are easy to reserve and access. We did not do an excursion though.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

First time here. Thought it was ok. Bring your walking shoes because the hike from the ship to the end of pier was loooong. Didn’t do an excursion though.

Disembarkation

Wow, ok…how do I put this delicately…People suck! Everyone is trying to get off before everyone else. All but a few are ignoring the requests to go to waiting areas and wait for them to call your number to get off. People hijacking elevators and staying on them for an hour, in an effort to game the system and get off before people with priority disembarkation. When I say “priority”, I don’t mean people who paid for suites…I mean people who need a wheelchair to help them get off the ship (like my 78 year old mother did on this cruise). She couldn’t get an elevator to go down because of said “Sucky People”. I gave it 4 stars because it isn’t the employees fault that some people don’t think the rules apply them.
