Review summary

Cruise was wonderful. The sea was mostly smooth. At times, it felt like the ship was hitting things in the water. I would compare it to hitting turbulence in a plane. It might have been waves hitting the ship, or something like that. The ship crew were wonderful and helpful at all times. Would definitely take the cruise again. I would rethink my all inclusive excursion in Progresso. Next time. Maybe some of the other excursions were better.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Embarkation was postponed due to fog. The original embarkation time was set for 11:30-12:00. We were told, by notification, not to show up until 6:00 pm. We showed up at 4:30 and they had already began embarkation. The terminal was a madhouse. Fortunately for us, we had purchased the “Faster to the fun” package and go onboard very quickly and smoothly.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The Steakhouse was EXCELLENT. The food in the dining rooms were really good, but on the formal night, when Steak and Lobster were expected, there was a $20 up charge I’d you wanted those things.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
There was ALWAYS something to do. There were activities at all times, or you could just relax in your cabin if you chose.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Gary, our Cruise Director, was amazing. The shows weren’t as good as I had hoped. There were only a couple of performers that I would call quality. The shows seemed more like a Pom Pom squad performing hit songs.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The service and staff were incredible. They worked very hard. They were all very accommodating.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship was always clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin was a little smaller than I had hoped. That was partially my fault. I had purchased a Spa room with a balcony. Had I purchased the suite, I would have gotten what I had wanted. I didn’t realize it at the time, but will know it for next time. Most of the price from mine was because I purchased access to the spa.

Ship tip

Purchase Faster To The Fun as soon as you can. Mine was sold out for a very long time. I kept checking every so often, and AMAZINGLY it popped open as available

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

4 out of 5
Galveston was ok, it was our original port

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
Was very organized. The excursions were extremely organized.

Progreso (Merida), Mexico

3 out of 5
Was slightly disappointed with this Carnival Guaranteed excursion. The food was terrible. Drinks were so so. It was an ALL INCLUSIVE excursion for $39 per person. One of our all you can eat items was nachos. I expected REAL nachos with melted grated cheese. It was fried overcooked tortilla chips, and nacho cheese sauce with some chicken. Disgusting. The guacamole was watered down to make it go further. The drinks had so little alcohol in them that you couldn’t get a roach drunk

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We actually chose to keep our bags and leave off the ship first thing. We’re we’re completely disembarked by 8:30 am.
