Review summary

Fun, fun, fun! Don't hesitate, take a cruise and the Dream is the ship to do it on.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Get the Faster To The Fun, it's worth every penny! Breezed right to the front of the line, past hundreds waiting outside. First on the ship, rooms ready when we got on board. Room corridors were still closed, Stewards were still getting rooms ready, but Faster To The Fun people were still allowed to go to their cabins. Our bags were already there waiting for us. Total time, maybe 25 minutes to max to embark once they started embarkation.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Steakhouse was oustanding! Guys Burgers, okay. Scarlet dining room food ranked from pretty decent to incredible. Serving staff are to be raved about.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Didn't get to try everything, but the waterslides were a blast. Just lots to do and see!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The piano bar, Ben Gentry the piano man(!) was hilariously good fun. The music shows were very, very good. The 3 women violinist were incredible talented and always surprising us with songs that you would never guess would sound good played only with violins, like Elton John's Benny And The Jets. Awesome! Just lots to do and see!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Except for one stone face young lady in customer service who acted like she would rather be somewhere else and was doing us an incredible favor just by acknowledging us, the staff was fun, sweet, helpful, and always went above and beyond.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship itself is beautiful, my wife and I remarked multiple times about the ships age and how with all the human traffic, spillage accidents, etc. it was kept incredibly clean. Just a complete delight!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
No complaints about the cabin, other than the safe didn't work, but that's no biggie. Also, we had a connecting door that acted like an amplifier for the 3 young men in the cabin next door. Still, they were quiet at night, and never really bothered us, so it didn't really turn into an issue.

Ship tip

Buy the Faster To The Fun! Worth every penny! We were literally off the ship and in our car in about 20 minutes. Get it, you won't regret it!

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

4 out of 5
It's okay, parking wasn't bad, but port is, well, in a port, so kind of an industrial looking area.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
Shopped a bit, but mostly spent the day on the ship enjoying things with it mostly empty. Not that lines were a huge problem anywhere even at sea.

Progreso (Merida), Mexico

5 out of 5
Visit Uxmal Mayan ruins, a beautiful and fantastic place. Progreso, at least what we saw of it riding through on the tour bus, looked like a dump. Sorry!

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Twenty minutes once we embarkation started to when we got to our car. Would've been shorter, but we bought a bottle of Mayan liquor (really good!) and had to declare it and pay a small tax. Get the Faster To The Fun!
