Review summary

It was an experience. Most elevators were not working the entire cruise. The last day there were 2 of the glass ones that finally did. The 1st day & last day they were being used to move luggage not people. I will not go on the Dream again. I probably won’t go to the expense of cruising out of Galveston again now that I live in the PNW.

Embarkation

Terrible! Worst experience ever. The ship was late transferring from previous port. They delayed arrival one hour. No big deal but the lines were very unorganized. No one was directing people to the correct lines. We happened to notice some were going to inside lines. Theres really no way to explain the chaos. Short version we finally found our check-in line but still took over an hour to get on board. Rooms were ready (no passengers on the transfer over). We had to embark on level 0 so only 1 elevator as you got on. We walked up 11 floors.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5

The Gathering Lido Restaurant

3 out of 5

Typical lido food.

Plaza Cafe

5 out of 5

This place the service was excellent! I bought more coffees than I normally do just because of the service.

Carnival Deli

3 out of 5

Deli is good. Its a small line within the buffet so takes longer than most Deli areas on other ships.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Room steward was excellent! The guest service desk had helpful staff.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
It was very clean! There are several hallways and common areas that are hard to negotiate because they are too narrow. Not my favorite ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Standard balcony cabin. Clean and comfortable. This location has the noise from lido deck so I won’t choose it again.

Ports of call

Galveston, Texas

5 out of 5
Always plenty to do and see. Good restaurants. Walmart and Target for last minute items you may have forgotten.

Cozumel, Mexico

4 out of 5
I used to love this port but since they have changed piers you have to run the gamut just to get to the other side. Nothing unique here.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

3 out of 5
No high pressure sales like most Mexican ports. Families were having a good time at the pool in the center of port.

Disembarkation

2 out of 5
The elevators were still not available. We had to wait about an hour like sardines in theater on 3rd floor. They had 1 elevator that had a staff member shuttling us down to zero to disembark. Going through customs was a breeze after all that.
