Best advice is to pack everything in small suitcases that you can stack and carry off the ship when you get back to port. I wouldn't recommend checking your baggage when you are done with cruie unless you have several hours to spare. That was our only thing we wish we would have done differently. We had to wait several hours to disembark. We could have got off much sooner if we wanted to carry our luggage off. We had a large suitcase we couldn't really handle ourselves very well.
