It was ok. I was actually a little disappointed. This was not the cruiseline I had come to know and love. The casino only had one craps table despite it being one of the more popular games and the smoke was out of control. We were given a drink coupon for being Gold members but could only use it on the last night.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
It was ok. There were a lot of people screaming and shouting and tons is confusion but it went at a nice pace.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The food was good. The main dining room lacked variety but it was decent. The buffets had a better selection of foods but they were often closed or closing when I wanted to eat there. Sea day brunch was the same thing all three days.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
The trivia and games were fun. The casino was too Smokey to really enjoy and the comedy show was so packed I only got a seat one night. The adult only area was nice.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
The comedian was funny. At least the show that I was able to attend. It was so packed I only got a seat one night. I missed having like a pajama party or something on the Lido deck.
Children's Programs
We had no children in our party.
Service and Staff
2 out of 5
The room steward Noorwad was really attentive and nice. He used our names every time he saw us. We did witness a less than scene in the casino where a Disabled US ARMY Veteran was discriminated against. The whole situation was handled poorly and my daughter made a report to Guest Services which she has heard nothing about since and wrote a letter directly to Carnival.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
The ship appeared old and a lot of things looked dated. This ship needed updating. The common areas were clean for the most part. The laundry had broken washers and dryers. As well as the laundry soap dispenser being broken.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
The cabin itself seemed clean but looked dated and old. The carpet was nasty looking and one of the days after the steward had cleaned to the room the duvet was filthy. When housekeeping was alerted it took hours to rectify.
Ship tip
Take your own laundry soap. You will need a gas mask for all the smoke in the casino and get to the comedy show at least 2 hrs prior if you plan on sitting. Also they charged me for motion sickness meds so bring your own. The carpet looks funky so bring socks to wear in cabin.
It was a mess. Nothing seemed organized at all. People were just kind of standing around. We had an early flight so we needed to get off quickly and it too much longer than we anticipated.
Go on a much older ship like Sensation, you'll appreciate Dream a lot better. Dream is my favorite ship. Each Carnival ship carries over 1000 people so they can't treat 1 like royalty as though they were a queen. A trip is what you make it to be.
