We had a fabulous Honeymoon. Yes there were a few blips here and there but we were well taken care of and look forward to more cruises with Carnival.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
We had no problems getting on board ship. We were in our balcony stateroom by 1:00pm. the embarkation process was well organized and efficient. However one my wife's suitcases did not make it to our cabin. I had to go to guest services to retrieve the bag. Fortunately it was there. It seems all our baggage was loaded together but the Carnival baggage tag was torn off during loading. We were recently married and my wife's former last name was still on the luggage. Guest services were well coordinated and quick to take care of us. This was a 6 day cruise that was shortened by Hurricane Nate. We did not get to Jamaica our original first stop. We were refunded a day and our prepaid Carnival excursions. It also should be noted that Carnival kept us well updated prior to learning our cruise would be shortened by a day. We were able to extend our stay at our New Orleans hotel without any problems.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
The food service on this cruise was not up to standards past. My wife has some restrictions that were not fully recognized by the dining room staff. The food though cooked well was sometimes slow to get to the table. Sometimes directions were not followed or slow. Also the photographers at dinner were often intrusive. They had a paparazzi feel to them even a rude attitude demanding we pose with our mouths full.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Onboard activities were Ok. We didn't participate in a lot so I cannot rate them honestly. Our fellow passengers seemed to be having a great time with the ones we observed.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Chris Williams is a talent. However we missed the type shows and large productions.
Children's Programs
We had no children with us. We were on our honeymoon.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Room services were up to par. They took very good care of us. It di seem they were understaffed. All around the ship this seemed the case and we were thinking because of the hurricane's effect.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Carnival Dream is a wonderful ship.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Once you have a balcony cabin you cannot go back to Ocean View. I might go to a higher floor the next time though. some late night revelers could be heard well into the night.
We had a great time in New Orleans. Our stay at The Old Number 77 Hotel was great. We had a 7pm curfew Saturday night that was lifted by 8pm due to hurricane Nate. We were still able to dine well and the staff at the Compere Lapin were extraordinary.
