Review summary

All in all, this was a great cruise. We enjoyed the your-time dining experience. We were allowed to choose our table and/or wait staff. Food on the Lido deck was just okay. Guy's Burgers were excellent. Entertainment was not impressive. Carnival has a long way to go to be on the same level as Royal Caribbean in their entertainment. Cabin was typical balcony cabin with enough storage.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
I don't care when your embarkation time is, there are still crazy lines to go through security and check in.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Ate dinner entirely at the your time dining room - food and service were excellent. Found the buffet just so so. Guy's Burgers were delicious as usual. Guy's barbecue place was okay.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Didn't participate in any activities on the ship.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Not impressed with Carnival's stage show (Play list), music was too loud to appreciate the singers. You could tell they were all very talented. Comedians were funny.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All service onboard was excellent from the room stewards, to dining room personnel, etc. Not much interaction with ship's officers.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
All areas of the ship were clean and well maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Typical balcony cabin. Room stewards kept the cabin and bathroom clean. Found the pillows to be hard.

Ports of call

New Orleans, Louisiana

Montego Bay, Jamaica

Did river tubing excursion. It was great. Trip on the bus to the river was a bit harrowing and the jeep ride back to the place where we started on the river was more than harrowing. All in all it was great and a lot of fun,.

George Town, Grand Cayman

4 out of 5
Did the Land and Sea excursion. Submarine ride to view sunken wrecks and fish was okay, trips to Hell and the Tortuga Rum store was very crowded and with such a limited time in each. Visit to the turtle place was informative and worth it.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
All disembarkations are crazy. With the need to get on the road and return home to beat Hurricane Irma, it was a little stressful. However, Carnival allowed us to disembark with the early flight people which let us get a head start on our drive. Thanks Carnival as it was already storming when we got home.

One time, someone was going on about the same shows over and over and saying Carnival needs to google some ideas... & something about "you feel me?". I still laugh! 😂 but I do love me some carnival.

Love carnival. Not a fan of carnivals shows. the Dancers and singers are obviously talented but the choreography is so horribly cheesey I can't stand it. I thought NCLs entertainment on the getaway was leaps and bounds better

I've been on Royal and Carnival and found the entertainment to be equally comparable

I agree with the entertainment, not that I have RC to compare it to, just local entertainment sometimes blows Carnival's away. Best shows were on the Sunshine years ago.
