Review summary

This was our first Carnival cruise. it just doesn't measure up to our experience on Royal Caribbean.  There were not very many activities planned each day. the food was OK.  I have been spoiled with Royal Caribbean so I guess I have high standards. This was the most we have ever paid for a cruise and it was one of the worst. :(  On a high note we loved New Orleans.

Ports of call

New Orleans, Louisiana

spent two days there. it was our first time so we asked lots of people for hints. Ride the cable car, a $3.00 24 hour pass was perfect for us and we rode and got on and off a lot. breakfast at Ruby Slipper. on there site they suggest an app for reservations use it. Lunch at Antoines was fantastic. it was $20.16 for a three course meal very southern and $0.25 martinis. take a walking tour at free walking tours.com we did the ghost one. it was fun and informative.

Montego Bay, Jamaica

George Town, Grand Cayman

I love carnival cruises ok so back off

People go to McDonald's because it is cheaper. I go to In N Out because I like the food. Not everyone picks a cruise because if price. I pick a cruise because of location. In New Orleans you have CCL or NCL.

May be more expensive but better quality. But to each his own. Didn't say I didn't like Carnival just that RC is better & I pay for what I like

I was excited about taking this cruise beforehand but it turned out to be a little disappointing, too crowded & long lines for everything. Food was warm at best, not hot. And yes that matters to me when it's every meal, here and there can be overlooked as far as I'm concerned, but not EVERY meal. Loved the ports though. I know I'll be frowned on for saying such things but, this is just MY opinion

I love Carnival.

Good post Anthony40. I will have been on CCL, RCCL and NCL by 1/2018. Can't wait to see how I feel about the others.

Nyszerman, maybe the OP hasn't used this app before or like me deletes past cruises. I personally have enjoyed all my cruises. Loved RCCL food and entertainment was top notch. Princess didn't do much on entertainment and the food was lacking. Still looking forward to my Panama Canal cruise on Princess. Carnival is ok but they fall into Princess as the food goes and doing the activities onboard well mostly I enjoy my Balcony and visiting with fellow cruisers. As I am getting older rethinking what I enjoy I am looking at booking Cunard. Have several friends that exclusively cruise with them and think that they might be a better fit for me. All that just to say just because Carnival is the end all be all for you doesn't mean it is for everyone. And if a person doesn't like what your beloved cruise line offers doesn't make them wrong or even mean they did not enjoy and get the most out of their cruise. They tried something different and it just was not a good fit for them.

I apparently have no standards as Carnival has always been perfect for us. Come on all you low lifes who wants to join me on the next Carnival premier or ultra cruise?

Totally agree with OP. RC is way better than Carnival...how many trivia games can one person participate in & their entertainment isn't as good as RC. But the people that I travel with make the cruise fun for me.

activities planned all day long on sea days and every evening.. Always lots to do on all 5 carnival cruises I've been on.. .never seen a RC cruise cheaper than carnival.. Oh and by the way.... You get out of a vacation with what you put into it

I am excited about cruising on carnival. We cruised RC in May and I loved the cruise. However, in my opinion I was not impressed with the limited activities especially the main attractions. But that's my opinion. I love cruising....I'm open minded and extatic about our cruise in 37 days. Good luck on your future cruise.

Just got off of Dream in October we had activities just about all day. Grant you we might not have liked them all but we keep busy all day. Great cruise.

You don't even have cruises listed...hmm. I was just on the Dream and there was so much going on I kept missing stuff.
