Review summary

We love to cruise.  With us being senior adults, we would pick a smaller ship with less party goers.  Carnival Dream is for younger crowds and families.  The service was great and ship was kept clean.  Belize City would have not been my pick for a port stop.  Recommend changing this port stop for another.  The food was good but it could be improved on.  I guess this was due to such a large ship and having to feed 3000 guests.  Overall, we enjoyed our cruise, but as stated earlier, we would choose smaller ship.  That's just our personal preference.

Ship tip

We would recommend eating in dining hall for dinner. We ate in the Scarlet Restaurant and found the food and service was excellent.

Opps, one more thing, most of our cruises have been 5-7 days but on one 4 day it was fun but too short and definitely a party ship. Too much parting for me. Prefer 5-10 day or a back to back. This will be our 23rd cruise YAY! 😊

My brother and I are seniors too but we love the Magic and Dream. Yes it is a larger ship but it has a lot to explore. We also enjoyed the Triumph and the smaller Elation. Most of the Carnival ships we have been on are out of New Orleans but we also enjoyed the Freedom out of Galveston. Like you said we live cruising!! 😊🛳

Give Cunard a try. They have longer cruises. Short 7 days are few. But formal nights are Formal. If you don't have a suit at minimum you will not get into the dining room.

If you can, try to pick an off peak time. We went the week before Thanksgiving last year and it was not crowded and less young people.

I prefer smaller ships also. Less crowds, more laid back. The Pride had been my favorite Carnival ship to date though.

Yes be careful! With Carnival a smaller ship usually means a shorter cruise. The shorter cruises are often party cruises. They aren't called Booze cruises for nothing!

Try Holland America. They cater less to the "spring break" crowd and more to the adults. Although mych smaller, and with fewer activities, river cruises are known for their adult, refined atmosphere and food quality, but can be very costly by comparison.
