Review summary

This is the second cruise with Carnival that we had NO air conditioning in our room. The first was a 12A category suite on the Legend. When we tried to call the front desk, either we couldn't get through, or the snippy person on the other end did NOT want to deal with it. The food was average, which was totally ok because I didn't put on a ton of weight. Nice ship, although poorly laid out. I am a smoker, but I know that alot of people aren't. If you have a strong aversion to cigar or cigarette smoke, please note: MAKE SURE YOU DINE IN THE GALAXY RESTAURANT NOT THE UNIVERSE. In order to get to the Universe restaurant on the rear of the ship, you have to go through the cigar bar. The only other way to get there is to go up one deck, walk around, then back down to dine. Half Moon cay was AMAZING this is an absolutely beautiful place on our planet! I would recommend that you DONT do an excursion there, because there is too much to see for free! I would also say avoid the Atlantis excursion. Only because its like 135$. You can grab a cab to Atlantis and have full access for 4$ a person. The architecture and the aquarium is worth a ton more than that! Really had a great time. Overall, the service was blah. The food was, well, average. I probably would not cruise on destiny again, but that is mostly because of the ship lay out. It's blocked in so many places where you can't simply get from the front to the rear without a map, compass, directions, and a small act of God. The ports were wonderful though. Our room had a broken A/C, a broken dresser with a different colored drawer that had nails sticking out of the inside to snag your clothing. Oh, really important THE CRUISE DIRECTOR SUCKED! The "Informational" channel was NEVER updated, and rather than running disembarkation info on the last night, they ran the typical 'buy me' stuff. When they finally did run the disembark info, it was WRONG. He says to "only list the items in which you have exceeded your limits on your custom forms" WRONG. You have to declare it all. Even if you only bought ONE carton of cigarettes, you have to write it on there. This was misleading, and ALOT of people got jammed up in customs. The Port of Miami is probably the best, most efficient port in the states. We literally parked less than a city block from the boat.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

On the bright side, I lost 2 pounds!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
DO NOT MISS the band after 10 in the cigar bar. Best entertainment on the boat!

Children's Programs

1 out of 5
NO supervision. When I see 17 year old boys grinding and touching 13 year old girls, and my 17 year old advises that most of the kids in the program were falling down drunk, well, that isn't a singing endorsement. There is no supervision. If you trust your kids, let them have fun, if not, be careful. They do have access to alcohol, and one 16 year old boy got so wasted I was afraid he had alcohol poisoning.

Ports of call

Grand Turk Island

On this cruise, this is the best port to book an excursion. Not much to do in the way of shop, and although the beach is free, it is SO much better at half moon cay.

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

DON'T pay for an excursion here!!!!!!!!! You won't need it! There are free water slides right on the beach. Lunch is served BBQ style by Carnival. Oh, make SURE you have a bottle of water!
Don't Miss: The hammocks on the beach are free. The island BBQ is too, because it's done by Carnival.

Nassau, Bahamas

Atlantis was AMAZING. But, get there on your own (4$ cab ride) don't do the excursion! You don't get anything extra except for lunch, and 135$ is kinda steep for lunch!
Don't Miss: Atlantis

Pros: Cigar bar entertainment was outstanding

Cons: No airconditioning in the room
