Review summary
This is the second cruise with Carnival that we had NO air conditioning in our room. The first was a 12A category suite on the Legend. When we tried to call the front desk, either we couldn't get through, or the snippy person on the other end did NOT want to deal with it. The food was average, which was totally ok because I didn't put on a ton of weight. Nice ship, although poorly laid out. I am a smoker, but I know that alot of people aren't. If you have a strong aversion to cigar or cigarette smoke, please note: MAKE SURE YOU DINE IN THE GALAXY RESTAURANT NOT THE UNIVERSE. In order to get to the Universe restaurant on the rear of the ship, you have to go through the cigar bar. The only other way to get there is to go up one deck, walk around, then back down to dine. Half Moon cay was AMAZING this is an absolutely beautiful place on our planet! I would recommend that you DONT do an excursion there, because there is too much to see for free! I would also say avoid the Atlantis excursion. Only because its like 135$. You can grab a cab to Atlantis and have full access for 4$ a person. The architecture and the aquarium is worth a ton more than that! Really had a great time. Overall, the service was blah. The food was, well, average. I probably would not cruise on destiny again, but that is mostly because of the ship lay out. It's blocked in so many places where you can't simply get from the front to the rear without a map, compass, directions, and a small act of God. The ports were wonderful though. Our room had a broken A/C, a broken dresser with a different colored drawer that had nails sticking out of the inside to snag your clothing. Oh, really important THE CRUISE DIRECTOR SUCKED! The "Informational" channel was NEVER updated, and rather than running disembarkation info on the last night, they ran the typical 'buy me' stuff. When they finally did run the disembark info, it was WRONG. He says to "only list the items in which you have exceeded your limits on your custom forms" WRONG. You have to declare it all. Even if you only bought ONE carton of cigarettes, you have to write it on there. This was misleading, and ALOT of people got jammed up in customs. The Port of Miami is probably the best, most efficient port in the states. We literally parked less than a city block from the boat.Ship experiences
