I was truly not worth the money, or the time off of work we took to do this cruise. We've been on several cruises with Carnival in the past and this was an eye opening experience that left us frustrated and unhappy. Overall, it was Poor at best, they need to step it up, the way they have cut corners is obvious. Very disappointing. There are other cruise lines that we will explore.
Embarkation

They have stepped it up with the embarkation. It was smooth and got thru the lines pretty fast.

Food and Dining

The Dining Room Menu was HORRIBLE! The food was over processed and worse then cafeteria food. My BF had ordered a STEAK and when he received it it looked like RIBS so he told the waiter that he had gotten the wrong item for dinner, and the waiter said "No this is Steak". It was disgusting. The vegetarian, seafood options that I can eat were horrible. The only thing on the menu that looked somewhat "fresh" was the appetizer "Shrimp Cocktail". I received 4 TINY over cooked shrimp. Rubbery and disgusting. They also give you choices in which IF you don't like what is on the Dining Menu (that is included in the cost of your trip), you can pay EXTRA for "Emeril's Menu", or a Sushi Selection. The Buffets, disgusting, kids reaching for food, adults sneezing and coughing over the food, or after sneezing and coughing on their hands reach for the to
Onboard Activities

The Fitness Center was clean and the equipment was nice. The Pools would start out Blue Water in the morning and by afternoon was Green. So we did NOT use the pools.
Entertainment

The Comedy Show was good. The Piano player was one of the Chefs that on "Elton John Night", didn't know the words to the songs, was more of a Karaoke type scene.
Service and Staff

We only went to the Dining Room on the first night and it was slow service and again the food was horrible. Instead of dining in the Dining room we would go to the "Seafood Bar" and the food was okay, but the people they had manning it couldn't speak or comprehend English very well. People were getting angry because they couldn't understand the orders and then would over charge for items they didn't order, we had the same experience. We didn't use the room stewards. The People at the help desks were very attentive.
Ship Quality

In the hallway to our room, there were dishes in the hallway outside of doors that weren't being picked up in timely manner. The main deck areas, the floors were real slippery in the food areas. My BF had slipped and fortunately able to regain balance before hitting the ground, but he had to ask someone to clean up the excess water.
Cabin / Stateroom

We upgraded to a balcony room. The balcony was nice. The bed was a Queen size bed with 2 twin beds pushed together. However, there was nothing connecting the two mattresses, they would slide from either side and leave a hole in the middle of the bed. Horrible.
Ship tip
Don't do it! I would recommend trying a different cruise line all together. I've cruised all but once on Carnival and I don't know what has happened but the quality and experience has gone downhill.
We enjoy the Fish Fry, but we had to limit what we wanted to do to make it worthwhile bc they don't give you a lot of time to do more than one excursion. It didn't use to be like that. You just feel rushed.
Why another cruise line and not another ship? Was this less than 5 days? Also, the Conquest is pretty much on it's last leg and will be decomissioned and replaced in a few years so it is not a top priority. One messed up cruise should not make you through the whole line away.
Sorry you had a negative experience. Many of the issues you cited are part of the norm (up charge for some main dining extras, two beds that can be combined into one…) there are pros and cons to everything I guess. I hope your next venture meets your expectations.
I’m sorry you had such a disappointing cruise. I’m sure you were looking forward to having a great vacation and that didn’t happen. I agree with you about buffets and the people sneezing and coughing over top of the food and into their hands and then picking up the serving utensils that everyone uses. I rarely go to the buffet for this reason.
I really think this is a fake review. We’ve been on 10 cruises and the Conquest was our only Carnival
Cruise. I don’t know if it’s because my daughter , son in law and two of our grandsons came, but it was one of our best cruises. The cabin steward was able to connect our balconies together and it was wonderful. We had our table in the MDR every night for 6. The meals were delicious. One of my grandsons is a very picky eater and had the flat iron steak every night. Cooked to perfection every night and he loved it. (6 nights)The ports were all great and we all loved them. The only complaint, we didn’t really care for any of the shows but that was us. We brought our favorite card game we all like to play. Phase 10. They had a balloon drop the last night of the cruise and that was a lot of fun. Deck 5 is the Sunflower Atrium deck and beautiful. Don’t miss it. Anyway, this was right before COVID so I’m sure it has changed but can’t be as bad as this reviewer made it.
Been a long time since you last cruised if you were surprised you could only fit in one excursion at a port. Regardless, the Conquest is old and it runs booze cruises. Much of Carnival has been like that for a long time. Go away from Carnival if that’s not your thing as it’s not unique to their Conquest ship.
