Review summary

I basically wrote everything in each category. I believe Carnival should treat there customers better especially when my husband is a Plantinum level. It meant nothing on this cruise..... only benefit was free waterbottles.... I even own some of the stock. Very upset and will not cruise carnival again At all.

Embarkation

we asked the lady when checking in for a upgrade and she told us she does not do it and it needs to be done inside with guest services. We then went inside and they said it had to be done outside. This was after we waiting in the platinum and diamond lane and many red and blue cruisers went before us. Very upset about this. Whats the point of being a diamond member if they service everyone where we are suppose to get in quicker. So we didnt get out upgrade and didnt get and good service

Sushi- was not fresh it was nasty (paid extra for it) Buffet- was absolutely horrible and all tables were dirty.... Barely any selection.... Dining room- Food was much better and our servers were absolutely amazing. Thank god for that. or else it would have been a horrible cruise.

Pools were very nasty and green, did not enter and flooded with people. Fitness center was clean.

Our waiters were absolutely AMAZING kadek and Karnita were so nice and did such a great job. They both really need a promotion as they are super hard workers and gave great attention to us and really went out of their way to make sure we were happy. Crystal from photography was absolutely horrible. We wanted to do a classy pose as my husband is also a photographer and knows beautiful poses as we were in our evening gowns and she told us no we could only do the poses she offers as thats all they are allowd to take pictures of. So we walked away and refused to take any pictures with her. We also always purchase the pictures so it as sort of stupid on her end. Then to top it off we walk by her and she was doing the same exact post with another cruise customer that we wanted to do. She never even listened to us. Very dissapointed with her.

dont do the weekend trips they are nasty..... maybe op for Royal a company that treats there customers better

Carnival hasn’t offered upgrades to Platinum and/or Diamond card holders for a very long time (like never). Also not receiving priority boarding (as far as I know)!

To bad your cruise failed to meet your expectations. Never heard of requesting an upgrade at check-in. I recall one time we were told at check-in we were upgraded from what I refer to as " the bilges" (bottom of the ship in the nose) I think stateroom 01001, to a balcony on deck 7. We had sailed with them twice so I guess they felt we needed it. We had not requested it nor did we know we could request an upgrade.

I would not judge any cruise line based on a short cruise during the summer on a somewhat older ship. All cruise lines are struggling with many of the issues you mention currently. I’m not aware that any cruise lines offer an upgrade while checking in. Most cruise ships are sailing at 100% or more capacity, so the option for upgrades is minimum, if at all.
