Review summary

Having had a real bad experience on MSC decided to try some new cruise lines. Already in love with NCL, but Carnival cruise was a great, didn't expect to enjoy as much as we did. Food was much better than we were expecting, staff were very friendly and helpful, especially those from Grenada, they know who they are! Would sail again with Carnival.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
The fastest embarkation we have ever had. Things go very smoothly if you turn up at your allotted time

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Your Time dining in Renoir worked perfectly never had to wait. Service was top notch apart from 1 night, obviously had some new staff on floor which weren't quite with it. Monet, had breakfast most mornings, omelettes and steak & eggs excellent. Long queues for Sea Day Brunch but worth the wait, as everyone will tell you. Cezanne buffet, didn't like cafeteria style set out, made for long queues at breakfast. Seems individual stations work a lot more efficiently. Seen more variety on other cruises but carved meats were excellent. Ole Fashioned BBQ was fantastic! Big BBQ fans, their beef and pulled pork some of the tastiest we've had! Guy Fieri Brown Sugar BBQ sauce is to die for, wish I'd have stole a bottle, mega expensive to get from UK! Guys Burgers & Pizza Pirate delicious and all freshly prepared. The Point Steakhouse definitely worth the $38 cover charge. Huge bowel of French Onion soup easily the best we've tasted, steaks cooked to perfection, VERY generous portion of cheesecake. Make sure you with a very empty stomach! Great dining experience. Purchased Cheers package pre cruise and more than broke even! Very good selection of cocktails. Most bar service was great, although was asked several times where spouse was when ordering 2 cocktails even though I was producing 2 key cards. Also refused 2 bottles of water along with 2 ciders at the same time?! Not sure what that was about!

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Quizzes are our thing and weren't enough. Had one every morning at 9, seemed odd, had more on port days than sea days, none on last sea day!

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Shows in theatre were very professionally done. Female singers were great, males not. Ship band was great. Ben Gentry in Piano was by far the most entertaining, especially after 11pm when he got "adult". Very clever and witty, missed him so much when he had the night off!

Children's Programs

No kids

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
With the exception off 2 new waiters and one bar maid, everyone was friendly and very efficient. Room steward was new to ship but couldn't put a foot wrong. Cruise Director was not the best we've had, but we've had some crazy a$$ cruise directors in the past.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Ships overall layout was pretty good, atrium a little smaller than we are used to. Stunning designs on Promenade Deck, lovely walk through, only spoilt by the smell of the casino. Plenty of deck space and sun loungers even on sea days.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Decent size cabin, plenty of storage space. Well appointed vanity area, hated hair dryer, attached to drawer awkward to use. Bed very comfy. Bathroom had plenty of shelf space. Shower needed a shelf.

Ship tip

Relax and enjoy.

Ports of call

Princess Cays (Cruise Line Private Island)

4 out of 5
Took a long time to tender ashore. Beaches beautiful, take sea shoes, reef right off shore, great snorkelling. Cheers package DOES NOT work ashore, but food at cruise port free.

Grand Turk Island

5 out of 5
Walked up to Jacks Shack to see the famous Topher, digging all day long. Great bar to relax, didnt pay for sun lounger, spent most of time at bar chatting with strangers, free Wifi, good connection.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
Disembarkation, as always runs behind. Not too bad, but Immigration had only 5 officers working so that wait was horrendous!

We have been on the Carnival Conquest to five times and would go on it again tomorrow! It is by far our favorite cruise ship we've been on bigger ones and smaller ones but the ship and the crew are just the best
