Review summary

Overall, we had a blast! Truly wonderful staff! Fun shows! I wish we had participated in more of the things, but that’s on us. Try new drinks and food if you’re feeling brave. We just had fun!

Embarkation

For not knowing what we were doing, it went very well. Seemed very straight forward!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The food was fine, nothing to write home about. Not a big fan of the buffets, but we only ate there a few times. The BBQ place was pretty good. We only went to Guy’s Burgers once, but they had good fries. I wish I had tried Blue Iguana more, but what we had was good. Sea Day brunch was very good and we enjoyed eating in the dining room. Dinner in the MDR was very fun and the staff are super great. The presentation of the food and the pacing was nice. Didn’t feel rushed or anything. The food could be better, but when you’re feeding that many people, it makes sense that it won’t be the best. It was still good and we enjoyed our time there. We expected more from the steakhouse, though. Very glad we went, as it’s a fun experience. But the steak was pretty flavorless and too fatty. The stuffed mushrooms and French onion soup were delicious, though! And we did the Art at Your Table dessert, which was very entertaining! Definitely worth the money for the experience that you get! Oh, and the bars! The poolside bars have fun and fruity drinks. The Kiss on the Lips was my favorite! But definitely go to the Alchemy Bar! The bartenders put on a fun show with how they make the drinks. And it just feels fancier there. The Restorative Basil Drop was my favorite there! So refreshing and delicious! All the bartenders on the ship were super nice and fun!

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We didn’t spend much time at the pool as it was usually pretty crowded. But there seemed to be plenty of chairs if you wanted to lay out. We didn’t go to the fitness center or the mini golf.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We enjoyed all the shows we went to! The comedy was really great and funny! We did the Hasbro Game Show, which is definitely geared towards families, but was really fun to watch. I wish we had gone to more of the shows than we did. The cruise director, Mat, was very good and had a fun energy!

Children's Programs

We don’t have kids yet.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff is excellent!! They truly make the cruise a wonderful experience! Everyone is super friendly, and somehow remembers your name! The waiters we had were great, and always had a good time joking around with us. The bartenders remembered us and knew what my husband would order and would get out a bottle of water before we would even ask for one. We only met our room steward once, but I’m sure if we needed anything, he would’ve been very helpful! Truly excellent staff all around!

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
It’s an older ship, but it seems like it’s being very well maintained. Staff were good about keeping up on everything from what we could tell. There was a sewage smell every now and then in certain areas, but never where food was, so that’s good. It took us awhile to figure out the layout, but it was our first cruise, so we were just overwhelmed by that. The ship has tons of art everywhere, and that was really fun to get to see.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Very nice cabin! Good size for the two of us. Only felt cramped in the shower, but it really wasn’t too bad! We had an ocean view, which was fun! I think a balcony would be worth a splurge next time! Didn’t hear too much through the walls, which was nice. The mattress wasn’t the most comfortable, but we survived. Plenty of storage space. No real complaints!

Ship tip

Enjoy! Go to the shows, go to the Alchemy Bar, try out the steakhouse! Talk to the staff and get to know them a bit! Meet new people, or don’t. Just enjoy and don’t be a jerk!

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

5 out of 5
We got to Florida the day before the cruise and stayed at a nice hotel. We spent the day on the beach and had a blast! The day we got off the ship, we did an Everglades excursion. They load your luggage and take you to the Everglades, and then you do an hour long airboat tour. Saw some alligators and cool birds! Then there’s a cool show with alligators. They then drive you to the airport. Great way to kill a few hours if you have a later flight!

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

We didn’t do an excursion. We took the water taxi to the beach area and stayed there. So much fun! There are a ton of vendors trying to get you to buy things, which is understandable, but still annoying. But the beach was beautiful and we just enjoyed playing in the water!

Basseterre, St. Kitts

Definitely do an excursion for this port! We didn’t, and it was rough. We got pretty heavily harassed by vendors right away and it was very overwhelming. A man asked if we wanted to take pictures with a monkey. We had said no thank you, but then he went ahead and put the monkey on my shoulder. My husband took some pictures and we gave the guy $10. It was cute, but it was just that feeling of harassment. We went back to the ship soon after that. Anything fun to do, you’d have to take a taxi, and we felt too nervous to do that. If we go to this port again, we’ll definitely book an excursion!

San Juan, Puerto Rico

Loved San Juan! I wish we could’ve spent more time there! I’m glad we decided to do an excursion, because this place is huge! We went to the rainforest, which was so pretty and green! I really wanted to go to the forts, so if we go back, that’s something we’ll definitely do. We got a good view of them as the ship was leaving, though! But this island had a nice vibe to it. There were vendors, but they were with their booth, waiting for you to come to them. No harassment and it was great! I really wish we had been able to explore more!

Grand Turk Island

4 out of 5
We didn’t do an excursion here, because we knew we’d just have a beach day. And it was a blast! The water was the clearest here, and we put on goggles to try and see some fish, which we did! We went to Margaritaville for lunch before heading back to the ship, and the food was pretty good and the drink was strong! Very pretty port!

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
The disembarkation was fine and easy enough. But it took awhile to locate one of our bags once we got off the ship. But the staff was very helpful and trying to help us locate it. We’ll be taking pictures of our luggage in the future, cause it’s helpful to know what to look for!
