Review summary

First time on Carnival and were quite impressed. Food was great, room was comfortable and service was for the most part friendly and efficient.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Got to the port early and were on the ship by 11:15. Very smooth.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Used the buffet very little and not impressed. Guys Burgers, Deli an Blue Iguana were great. Kids got pizza several times. Went to main dining room every day for breakfast and dinner. Food in MDR was exceptional. Great selection and always came hot and timely. Ordered multiple appetizers and were given the option of ordering appetizer as main course or main course as starter.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We didn’t do a lot of activities either because they interfered with port times, or timing was bad for meals, etc. Water slide was good and hot tub was nice.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Epic rock was ok, but lead singers were not impressive. Flick, scheduled for a later night ended up being cancelled. Another Pop music show was fair, but featured the same singers. Game shows were not very entertaining. Comedy show was very good.

Children's Programs

Had two older kids with us but didn’t use programs.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Room steward kept room clean with fresh towels, but after first night never left new soap. At guest services, we asked about a room that we had heard about that had a sunflower motif. She said she never heard of it and didn’t bother checking with anybody else. While exploring on our own we found the sunflower atrium, and Vincent’s bar all decorated with sunflowers. How could not know about it? Win, the waiter in the MDR was fantastic.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Ship is older and starting to show her age, but was well maintained and the design and decor were spectacular.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Cabin was spacious and had plenty of storage space. Had family in next cabin and opened connecting door on balcony and had extended space for all of us. Bathroom had good space and shower was fine.

Ship tip

Relax and have fun!

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

4 out of 5
Live in this area and see nothing special about port are, but embarkation went smoothly.

Nassau, Bahamas

4 out of 5
We were hesitant about this port due to other reviews and warnings posted. Many people have said that the locals were way too aggressive, but we walked around shopping area including the straw market and never felt unsafe. Vendors tried to sell their products but a polite “no thank you” was all that was needed. They all then just said “have a nice day”.

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

5 out of 5
Absolutely gorgeous beach. Soft sand and clear blue water. Water was chilly, but very refreshing. BBQ lunch was OK. Second time at this port and we love it! Tender process was smooth and easy.

Grand Turk Island

4 out of 5
Two ships in port this day made it quite crowded. Beach is OK, but not nearly as nice as HMC. Pool at Margueriterville was nice, but very hard to find a chair. Grandson went on Florider and loved it.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

5 out of 5
Beautiful pool area with fun water slides. Three of us went on zip line and thought it was a lot of fun.

Disembarkation

Seemed like Customs was understaffed so kept halting the process. We were supposed to get off at 8:30, but did not get off until almost 10. Got a porter and used mobile passport and saved a lot of time in the terminal.
