Review summary

Overall carnival has shown me that they are out to nickel and dime their customers. You can’t go very many places unless you buy their excursions, so plan to spend another grand or more I guess. The food was aweful and the deserts were all the same template. The dining area by the middle of the trip was a sauna and had flies everywhere...how hygienic. My kid got food poising at this buffet. The bartender was horrible and was not attentive at all. And the prices of drinks went up when you step off the boat at half moon cay (owned by carnival). And after settling the bill, even though your policy states children under 12 don’t owe gratuity, carnival slips it in there and doesn’t say anything unless you ask about it. That’s shady. That’s bad business to knowingly charge someone something that you they don’t technically owe. But hey you got your tips right? Thank you carnival for showing me we aren’t cruising people. At least not with carnival.

The buffet had flies and was so hot by the middle of the cruise. That is disgusting

None of the shows were appealing

Everyone was great except Greg the bartender on the 3rd deck. He was rude and skipped over individuals in favor of bigger groups of people, not by who was there first. And forced gratuity gives them nothing to work for.

Ship tip

If you don’t buy excursions you can’t really do much but shop. They won’t allow you access to much else without paying for it this includes the beach

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

3 out of 5

Nassau, Bahamas

2 out of 5
The beach was dirty and had broken glass all over. Trash in the water, same harbor as the ships emptying out trash. Nasty

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

4 out of 5
Clear water and you didn’t have to buy access to the beach, however they upcharged the drinks since carnival owns the island

Grand Turk Island

4 out of 5
Bought an excursion, they were exhausting because it was holding hands like grade school to get through everything. No real exploring.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

It’s a prison of shopping. You can’t leave their fort unless you buy their packages, no beach nothing unless you buy access. So you paid for a cruise to take you to malls unless you spend additional hundreds of dollars just to get in the water.

Next time, sign up for the excursion off of the ship, it's cheaper, even tours.

Hmmm. Interesting…. Every turn was a bad one for your family 👪. If you decide to cruise again try Disney Cruise ships. The are more family oriented and would suit your taste. Look them up when you get the chance.
