Review summary

We had a great cruise. The staff is friendly and helpful, the food was well prepared and presented. The steakhouse was a real treat and the staff does an excellent job. The new photo arrangement is nice. We loved having the app and seeing the pictures viewable from anywhere and not having to do the seek and find from the old days. Some complained that Carnival could reduce prices since they don’t have to print out all the pictures just to throw away a large number. True statement, but doesn’t recognize the fact that they do the service to make money. It’s capitalism people! You can buy or not. If enough people refuse to buy they will have to lower prices. As long as sufficient amounts of people purchase them, the price is fair. All in all very enjoyable cruise and well worth the price!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Very efficient embarkation. Cool idea using passport photo for shipboard security photo. Saved much time. We were thru the lines and heading to the ship in literally 10 minutes! I don’t misss the bad ole days of standing in 3 or 4 different lines to check in. Carnival has worked hard to improve the process.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Main Dining room excellent. Speciality steakhouse excellent. Buffet could use some work. Food ok for buffet food, but layout of lines and crowd control is not very efficient. You wait for people to get food you don’t really want before you can get to the food you do want.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Many activities, some of interest, but many not for us. No complaints, people were enjoying the options, we preferred just chilling.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Great shows and varied music choices. Adult comedy shows are not our thing. The family shows were great.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
8424 is in a convenient location, being one floor below the lido deck where the buffet and the pools are. It is right around the corner from the stairs and elevator in the aft of the ship. We had concerns about noise from the elevator lobby and such, but that’s no issue. The problem is it is right next to the cabin stewards closet. They begin work very early and can’t help but make some noise. If you are a light sleeper, it will wake you up. Also the room is directly under the pizzeria. You don’t hear the crowds so much, but evidently they restock supplies at night, around 11:30 or so, and you can hear the moving of materials around. Overall it is a good room, especially for location, but if you are a light sleeper, there are quieter locations.

Ship tip

Relax, enjoy the vacation and don’t search for disappointment. A cruise is of your making. You can be happy or miserable if you want.
