Review summary

Despite the 5 hours of inconvenience and subsequent disappointments with having to move to a second, inferior stateroom after 3 days we were determined to not let the negatives ruin the rest of our cruise. Consequently, we had a very good time. The dinner dining was excellent, both menu selection and food quality. We really liked the ship layout, entertainment options and ports of call. Although we were unlucky on this cruise the positives made it fun and worthwhile.

Ship Quality

Really liked the ship design (e.g. Serenity section for adults only, multiple entertainment sites, great gym, multiple dining facilities). Unfortunately the ship was plagued by occasional sewage odors in various locations and a number of areas needed repairs (e.g. the carpeting on the putting golf course was ripped up on most holes and the running track also needed replacement)

Cabin / Stateroom

2 out of 5
Our initial stateroom was great but after 3 days Carnival surprised us with an order to leave our room from 10am-2pm so it could change the carpeting. The odor from the new carpeting when we returned to our room was noxious and unbearable so we had to pack and move to a lesser stateroom which was 25% smaller, had no chair, a table 1/3 the size of the one in our initial stateroom, one stool rather than two, a refrigerator that didn't function, a shower whose water temperature range was only hot-to-hotter and a shower head with a broken spray adjustment tab. Also, unlike our initial stateroom which was located at the end of a hallway and therefore had virtually no noisy fellow cruiser traffic, the new stateroom was located midship where we were awakened after midnight a few times by loud fellow cruisers presumably returning to their rooms.
