I was very disappointed by Carnival's drastic downsizing on quality and after this cruise will most likely not return for Royal Caribbean and Holland offer so much more for roughly the same prices or close enough.
Embarkation
2 out of 5
We were told by 2 different people to get into different line when we were with a handicapped person and separated. When we tried to explain, the workers seemed very unconcerned.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
The ships quality of food was a huge disappointment. They served the same food every single day. There was little variety. There was little variety in daily drinks. The main dinning room's anytime seating was a huge disappointment for we had to take a buzzer and wait 45-60 minutes ever night to be seated for dinner missing the shows.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
Very limited free activities to participate in, the majority of the activities involved buying, buying, buying. Very few games or activities offered that promoted fun. They were items like come to the spa, pay for a mule tasting, come shop on the deck to receive a ticket for a drawing, come shop at the art auction.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The shows were wonderful! What a great cast!
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
Our room steward was AWESOME! He is the reason you earn 3 starts but the dinning staff was disorganized and messed up one of our meals every night, forgot a soup or a salad for got a side or took 45 minutes to take our order and another 30 minutes for dessert - dinner 3 of the night took over 2 hours to complete.
Participated in the walking and tasting tour - walking tour was somewhat informative but the tasting was only 2 samples - huge let down. Worst food tour I have ever been on - not worth the price at all for we were walked to statues we could have seen ourselves for free.
There is tons of trivia to do and you don't have to do anytime dining, that's why you got a buzzer. The main dinner menu changes every day usually same thing for lunch in the lido
My last cruise was also on Conquest and will be my last with Carnival. For other reasons. My cruise was day after the Fort Lauderdale shooting and our cruise was a disaster. Missed ports and ship didn't leave port till midnight. I thought the buffet was awful compared to RCC, NCL and Princess. The Conquest staff was at times rude in my opinion. Sorry never again.
I've been on Royal Caribbean twice in the past 5 months, and it's the same: limited free activities and they're always trying to sell you something. It's very irritating. The Windjammer buffet was pretty much the same everday for breakfast and lunch (we didn't eat dinner at the buffet). And as far as dining variety, Conquest has much more in addition to MDR and buffet: Mexican cantina, pizza, and Guy's burgers. You'll be disappointed on RC if you think food variety and less up-selling will be better. I'm sailing Conquest March 2019 because it is less money, more variety of food, and better ports.
Unfortunately all the mainstream lines nickle & dime you, not just carnival. Holland might be better but RCCL is the same. Sorry dinner took so long we do anytime and never had to wait that long to get seated but dinner does take longer I get impression the group and entire section of the dinning room together to serve all the meals at the same time, but if you are seated first in a group you can end up waiting a half hour just to start the order taking.
Sorry to hear that. I loved the conquest. Haven't tried holland to compare but been on rccl and they all have good with not so good they r all courting back on things.
Our first cruise was in Nov 2011 and we have seen so many cut backs with Carnival since that time. Prices kep going up and amenities keep getting cut...
