Review summary

Enjoyable trip, just the right mix of time on and off the ship. Crew were hospitable and kind. Dining is first rate. The cruiseline has improved some of the logistical issues, making lines a lot less of an issue, especially getting on and off the ship for ports.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Easy procedure. We arrived at our designated time and were cleared and on board very quickly.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Cuisine was wonderful in the dining room. We didn't eat in the Lido buffet. Dining room food presentation was beautiful to look at. Wine list was good. Enjoyed Guy Fieri and Blue Iguana, both guilty pleasures. Tried the BBQ onboard. It was OK.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Whirlpools were clean and easily accessible.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Chloe, the cruise director was fun, a bundle of energy. Enjoyed the musicians on Deck 3. Dj's on deck were good.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Ida Ayu and her service team were wonderful. Gracious and attentive. Hostesses in the Renoir Dining Room were friendly and were kind enough to help us get the same table (232) most nights.

Ship Quality

decks were clean. Impressed to see the crew working late to keep the decks safe during some rough seas.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Clean, comfortable. Really liked the checklist the Cabin Steward gave us when we first met. We could get our little needs met early, including a robe. Very thoughtful. Our cabin crew worked really hard all cruise and we appreciate them.

Ship tip

don't forget to check out the coffee bar near the casino. Great desserts and a nice price. I wish you could get milk there like you used to, so you could have it with your cake. I had to go up to the Lido to get a carton. Art auction was a little disappointing. Selection was limited. Wish Serenity was bigger. On some ships it's levels. Hard to find room to chill up there.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida Did not visit port

Arrival/departure only

Nassau, Bahamas

Crowded. Lots of the same stuff. Really recommend the Resort for a Day option. Having a day of real quiet and no crowds was nice and well worth the price. Carnival can be loud, relentlessly loud, and the silence of the beach and the ocean was amazing. Great service at the hotel.

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

5 out of 5
Love this place. Got a clamshell and enjoyed the day looking at water. We ordered sodas on the beach and never got them. We didn't eat the lunch onshore.

Grand Turk Island

3 out of 5
Glad to see the island is recovering. The shore excursion was disappointing. Kudos to the Captain and crew for succeeding in docking the ship.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

5 out of 5
Amazing, beautiful. Don't forget to walk up to the top of observation area neat the zip line. The views are stunning. Enjoyed the historical and cultural information. The restaurant was really good.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Easy off and easy to the bus for the airport
