Trip good, food very good, service is slipping, attention to detail is slipping, paint on railings, paint on chairs, etc. Conquest is showing her age a bit

Review summary

Would still cruise Carnaval, but with a better set of open eyes as to what to expect with service. We always tip our staff over and above what the package is. This time we did not. Forgetting drinks for the table at dinner, bringing wrong dinners, forgetting accents for drinks, lime, lemon, etc. Mixing wrong drinks. Leaving trash in the room after service, leaving morning dishes in the room. This has never happened on a Carnival cruise to us before. They've changed the service of rooms to either morning or turn down. I understand the importance of cost controls and efficiency, but again, you're getting what you pay for. That all being said, it didn't change the fun we had as a group.

Embarkation

They need to look at a better way of taking on passengers. It's like hearing cattle without any control, especially outside. They should look at some of the airlines and load by group. Go early and it's a mess, go late, and it's a mess. Poor job. Once you're at the window, it's good, then you wait again. Poor execution of customer experience.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
As mentioned, paint on ship and chairs, railings, floors, etc Lido deck got messy after meals. No service personnel until well after dining time. Plates left all over tables so people couldn't use them until cleaned up

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Cabin was good. Plenty of room.

Ship tip

You get what you pay for. They are implementing many cost saving measures and you can feel it with the service.

Nice port, but inundated with flies from the seasons storms. Not just a few, loaded. When eating our waitress stood over the table and shooed them away with a towel. We set up a plate on two chairs with food to draw them away from the table. Food was good too! Nature at its best.

Disembarkation

If they can get us off in good order without stress, they can get us on the same way. Needs serious review and change as mentioned before.

Plus we had the prepaid gratuities removed from our bills, and left far better for our cabin steward and then left tips for servers in the dining areas and the bartenders who took good care of us as we went along.

Plus if you want all new towels and wash cloths, make sure to leave the used ones on the floor.

Actually you can ask for service for morning and night. We had both on our cruise in May on Carnival Magic.
