Carnival Conquest

6 Night Eastern Caribbean (Ft. Lauderdale Roundtrip)

Sail date: October 22, 2017

Ship: Carnival Conquest

Cabin type: Balcony

Cabin number: 8221

Traveled as: Couple

Review summary

We went with two other couples. All enjoyed Carnival's design, friendly service, and fun offerings. Due to recent hurricane damage, our planned stop in Grand Turk was replaced with an additional day-at-sea, which was also good. We liked Half Moon Cay the best of our stops.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
It was done very well, but when you are anxious to start the cruise, it is hard to wait until your cabin level is called to board.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food offered was varied, delicious, and convenient. Staff was very friendly, too.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
My favorite activities were the fitness center and sunbathing on the Serenity deck.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We liked the early evening comedy shows, the outdoor movies, the funny juggler act, and the casino. All of these were excellent!

Children's Programs

Our children were not on trip.

Service and Staff

Every staff member we met was always smiling, friendly, anxious to answer questions, and help. We met no bad apples here. The casino staff were the most professional and friendly.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
We loved the ship layout, because as past Carnival cruisers, it seemed like we just knew where everything was located. The design was very helpful.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Our cabin was just right. It was efficiently planned. The bed was so comfortable! The staff opened the divider between our balcony and our friends' balcony next door. We really liked hanging out there with them. Storage space was ample in the cabin for all our things. and the bathroom was smartly planned, too.

Ship tip

We especially enjoyed relaxing and reading on the Serenity deck. You can choose either sun or shade. They give you a towel, you can take your food up there to eat, and they offer drink service, too.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

4 out of 5
This is where the ship started our cruise. South Florida, and near the airport.

Nassau, Bahamas

4 out of 5
This is the Bahamas' main town. Lots of shopping. Also has a really good golf course. The famous Atlantis resort is here too.

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

5 out of 5
This is where we spent the whole time at the white sand beach. The water is so beautifully colored, and the water is so wonderfully clear to swim through! Wow! I swam and swam! Best stop of the cruise to me.

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

4 out of 5
It takes a 35 minute open air drive along a dusty gravel road to reach the resort. But it was very nice indeed. The beach had both sun and shade. The water was a bit more challenging, but a good exercise. The waves were making big crashes onto a cliff to the side. The food was great. My highlight memory was the zip-line offering. You can ride fast across a long span over the ocean, as part of the 4 or 5 zip line sections. The staff here was very professional and fun.

Disembarkation

This was well organized. The only negative here is that the cruise was over!
