Review summary

On February 4th- 12th I took a cruise w/ Carnival on their ship Carnival Conquest. Unfortulently, I didn't really enjoy my experience with cruising on the carnival conquest. I felt that the ships layout was very challenging and difficult to navigate and because of the way the ship was laid out I felt it was difficult to acclimate to the ship and to know where everything was and to have easy access to everything on ship. I also felt that the ships culinary food service team and the dinning room experience was very poor w/ their costumer service and their food service. I had to wait a long time to get seated, I had to wait along time to even be served my drinks and if I wanted a stake and food. When I ordered my food after waiting a long time to receive it I felt that the portion size and the way the chefs presented it to me was poor. I also felt that it was strange that the stake and other meats were as small as hockey pucks or the size of small portions. I also didn't like how the timing of the food service wasn't accurate. My friend got her food before me and I almost didn't get mine. Also it was very noisy in the dinning room where you couldn't carry on a nice conversation w/ friends and you couldn't dine in a relaxed calm environment. Also in the mess hall the food variety wasn't very much to choose from and wasn't set out for customers if they came out to eat early in the mourning. I also felt that the there wasn't very much activities to do on ship in the daytime or @ night. The daytime entertainment on ledo deck was very low and the night life didn't really have much fun things to do either.

I thought and felt that the food services and customer services were poor and not very organized w/ their quality, quantity, portion sizes and their availability of food for the customers. I felt that the customer servicasn't accurate w/ serving customers in a timely manner. The employee's were friendly but their timing of service can use some improvement.

Onboard Activities

I felt that the onboard activities and variety of fun entertainment on board ship was poor because there wasn't a lot of variety of fun things and shows to see. I have been on 4 other cruise ships from carnival and amongst all 4 of the other ships I've sailed on there were always activities during the evenings and during the day on ledo deck and shows and other entertainment to enjoy while on ship.

I feel that the ship could've had more entertainment during the day on ledo deck and in ship @ night and more of a variety of things to do but the things and activities that they did offer during the day and the shows @ night were fun and enjoyable. I just wish that the entertainment staff and crew had more of a variety of things to choose from if you wanted to.

Service and Staff

I think that some of the crew were helpful and nice. The pursers desk team was nice and helpful, My cabin steward was nice and friendly, I really enjoyed everyone from the fun squad when there were fun activities to do and entertainment. The waiter's and waitress's in the dinning room could've been more organized in their customer services. I would like to give a recognition to my massage therapist while on ship Rosal. I feel she did a great job at doing a deep tissue massage for me and I appreciate her advice that she gave me for things to do @ home for my condition. Job well done!

Ship Quality

I think the ship was very clean and neat. I think the house keeping teams did a very nice job on how they cleaned and did the rooms. I can't think of any complaints on the cleanliness of the ship. Very good job!

Cabin / Stateroom

I really enjoy being on ledo deck close to everything. I really liked the placing of were my cabin was. I especially enjoyed having an ocean view and being able to keep my door open @ night so I could feel the breeze and hearing the waves of the ocean.

Ship tip

I don't really have any good tips to give anyone. Except if you like a more low key of entertainment maybe you could benefit from this cruise. I did like the destinations that the cruise took and the length of the time on the ship but really wasn't crazy about this ship.

Layout challenging? Conquest's layout is easy. Long wait to be seated for dinner? Did you have "Your time tuning"?... If so, you end up in line behind everyone who got there before you. Try the regular seating...we never had a problem with that. Food portions were appropriate and "second" were available for the asking. Sorry you had a bad experience.

I just came off the Conquest and it was nothing like what you described. There are maps everywhere- learn to read them! There was something to do for everyone at least every 20-30 mins. Are you aware that if you are still hungry you can ask for another serving in the dining room? And you need to complain right away to head waiter. We had people asking us inside dining room and as we exited how everything was.

I Love Carnival Conquest!! My first cruise was on the Breeze in 2015 and she was great but last year we were booked on Splendor and due to Hurricane Matthew we missed that ship but Carnival transferred us to the Conquest...I was iffy about it at first but can I sayyyy....Conquest turned out to be 1000 percent better than the Breeze....the food was great......just the comedy was meh....but other than that had no problems..I will cruise her again!!!

"Mess Hall"? Did you mean the "Buffet"? There is no Mess Hall on a cruise ship. Only on an Army Post !

The conquest is my favorite ship. I love the layout and especially the Lido deck's stadium seating arrangement. Would love for them to move it back to New Orleans. We cruise at least once a year and this year we are going twice. I hate that someone had such a miserable time on a cruise because I just can't imagine not feeling pampered and like I'm in paradise.

wow if I were you I wouldn't cruise anymore...sounds like you are a real negative person and by the way there are other people on the cruise with you. If you can't lighten up and enjoy yourself stay home!

I have been on the Conqest twice...second time by mistake (ship change by Carnival) and it was HORRIBLE mainly the smoke smell and the food. Everyone has different definitions of what good food is though.

we were just on the Conquest last Septemer and I must disagree with you. The ship is very easy to get around. The food was good as car as Carnival food goes. We had early seating in the main dining room and normally were greeted as soon as we were seated. Our wait staff was extremely friendly and very efficient. we found plenty to do both in the evening and during the day. The shows were good for Carnival shows (not quite up to the shows on Royal Caribbean).
