Review summary

See comments below. The cruise ship needs updated.  Only one outlet in our stateroom.  Bathroom should have a night light.  Unfortunately the outlet in the bathroom only works when the main light is on so we could not plug in a nightlight.  Entire ship was showing signs of it's age. Is in need of decor updating and repair.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Buffet was basically the same food day after day. The continental breakfast section was pre-made thawed out choices.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Movies on deck were not captioned for the hard of hearing so could not watch them. Also seating was impossible since all of the empty chairs were covered with towels.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Pete, our cabin boy was absolutely fantastic.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Cleanliness was outstanding, The Staff was very friendly and helpful. Ship quality needs updating. Had to pay to use wifi which we were surprised at so did not use.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
drawer under sofa was broken as well as the sink drain. Cabin was very small, otherwise, the bed was comfortable.

Ports of call

Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Private Island)

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata), Dominican Republic

3 out of 5
Depressing regarding the way people live in the Dominican Republic. We did feel safe enough since we had armed guards around the tour bus at every stop.

Grand Turk Island

5 out of 5
Best place ever. We should have booked more tours. Beautiful island.

Most cabins have only one outlet

Go to a Dollar Store and pick up a package of two battery-operated candles for $1. They run for 220 hours. They emit ample light for the bathroom at night. Easy fix. Go and have a good time and forget about all you could whine about. It's VACATION, for heavens sake!

Just returned from an 8-day to Aruba, Curaçao and Grand Turk. We had to skip La Romana because of Hurricane Matthew. Had a wonderful time. The Conquest is showing her age, but she is a great ship. We were well taken care of. The food was a bit bland, but there are many, many choices! Being seasoned travelers, we always take a power strip all of our devices. As far as a bathroom nightlight, go t

We always bring two small flashlights and a power strip. All problems solved👍😊

I suggest everyone needs to ride in an 18 wheeler for about 8 weeks, take a week off, 8 more weeks, you get the idea! I sure love cruising, no matter how many or how few plugs we have!!lol Love my cruise time!!

Forget night lights and power strips. Guys! I found that if you are close enough, use the spa/ gym for showers and restroom. Showers are full size and have shampoo and soap. Toilet is full size and who cares if you blow it up. If you know what I mean. Plenty of towels and counter space to get ready. Did this and left cabin restroom to wife and life was peaceful.

Cabin steward showed my father in law a burnt towel that was caused by someone throwing a hand towel on a curling iron when we were on the Elation. And I guess I may be old because I lived through the 60s But I love cruising And conquest is showing her age, but she still was fun!

Easy people. You got to research. Experience in cruises, helps, having a C C L planner to communicate questions, is the best. Hope u enjoy your next cruise if u decide to try again. Smile be happy don't worry..... . ...

Maneal It is funny how people can complain about a single electric outlet. Like I said, every site tells you to take a power strip and with all the stuff we have to plug in. I am kind of glad that you can plug at one spot right at the desk area. If there were more plugs around cabin, it gets easier to forget a camera or cell phone plug when you leave last day. Have fun on your cruise.

We have tons of cruise experts lol ^ just see the engineer above lol

What I wish is all of these wannabe cruise people stop whining over little crap! Go camping in a tent and leave the fun to the happy people. We cruise I 2 days and can't wait!!

We leave the bathroom light on at night with the door cracked open. If the ship is rocking roll up a towel and stick it in the crack.

I wish that they would let the outlet in bathroom stay on. That way some idiot could leave a curling iron plugged in and burn the ship down. Even new ships have single plug to keep from overloading the ship. Generator is run independent of motors so there is a limit on power out put. How many cruise review sites tell you to take a power strip? How about everyone of them.

rogerellenborland    8 years ago

They are up to code. All power is running on a generator. If you over power the generator you are out of luck. Evidently you don't understand how ship's operate.

She goes to dry dock September 30 through October 13, 2017

ktolivia23    8 years ago

Shouldn't have to take cords on ships - they should be up to date and or code

banaford    8 years ago

Just FYI, most older ships on all cruiselines have 1 outlet. If you go again, research that. Most people suggest taking a multiple outlet cord with them.

Really.. Was just on it. Great ship. Shes a good ol girl. Will be going again soon. Try a balcony next time. Keeps your spirits up lifted :))))))))
