Review summary

clean ship, good food, good shows!

but embarkation 1 hour on line terrible.

and disembatkation a nightmare 5 hour wait

Port Everglades US Immigration way understaffed

3 officers doing passport checks for over 3000 people!!!

Carnival needs to pay for more customs officers or they will lose future cruise passengers.

We went on conquest of of ft lauderdale last sept. And while i loved the cruise as always. Took over an hour to get on with FTTF. And we had early debarkation (not self assist) and took us 3 hours to get through customs. Only 3 agents working ( only ship in port). While I will always sail carnival I will never sail out of ft lauderdale again.

We self assisted off the Conquest on 8/8/16 and were through customs by 8 AM. Not sure what happened on your trip, but it was not normal.

No I agree - I went in Jan and we waited about 5 hours also- that port sucks! I went on the paradise outta Tampa and never had any prb

That is totally wrong. We had a great time on the cruise. My only negative comment was about the disembarkation. I never said Carnival was in control of that either.

There will be no good answer for rfaren it seems. Some folks are only happy when they have something to complain about. The moral of the story is, Customs is not controlled by Carnival.

We were the only ship in port.

It all depends on how many ships are in port at the time of disembarkation. When I got off of the Conquest on July 11, 2016, she was the only ship in port. So all of the customs people were at that station and were able to get passengers off stat. We had no problem getting on or off. But I heard that a week after that particular terminal had issues with their computers and electricity.

We had to wait to get off in July. We were told it was too crowded in the terminal getting off. The same thing. Short staffed in Ft. Lauderdale. The cruise itself was great.

Well this was about noon.

Rfaren23...Thats every cruise and not a big deal. We always arrive at the port by 10-1030 when their still disembarking.

rfaren23    8 years ago

People were arriving for the next cruise as we were still on the ship.

batch123    8 years ago

Strange. Can't say we've ever waited longer than 30 minutes or so to do self disembarkation from any port ever. Something must have been messed up on the Customs end.

rfaren23    8 years ago

Oh forgot to add and that was with us keeping our luggage.

rfaren23    8 years ago

We were on the Conquest from 7/30-8/4 we had a 5.5 hrs disembarkation.

This was port canveral?

batch123    8 years ago

Carnival doesn't pay US Customs Officers. Your tax dollars do.

kcmccallum    8 years ago

I recommend self disembarking if you can handle all your luggage yourself. You basically get off in the first callings and lines are a little shorter.

kinda wondering once you got on the ship did you allow yourself to have a good time. I hope you did we cruised the ship last, November and had a terrific cruise. I hope you can enjoy your next vacation.
