Review summary

This is my second Carnival Cruise ship. I was previously in Carnival Triumph. To me, Conquest was almost exactly the same as Triumph. Our overall trip with Conquest was just "okay". Nothing better than the first cruise. I felt that there was less entertainment, the shows in the big auditorium was the exact same as our triumph cruise. Nothing new and exciting. Food was about a 6-7/10. We were planning on having dinner at the Steakhouse, but cancelled it because the time overlapped with the shows we wanted to see. We ended up in the regular Renoir dining room and ate a steak there anyway. The steak at the regular dining room was amazing, we were very glad that we didnt pay for the $35 per head Steakhouse.

I feel that once youve had a Carnival experience, nothing would surprise you or get you excited about further carnival cruises. I noticed little things that showed Carnival may be saving money, such as cheap quality napkins (utensils that come with the Guy's burger joint).

Our service during the stand up comedy show was very poor. It was very obvious that the servers prioritize only those who are ordering drinks. We had just finished eating and didnt want to order drinks , so only asked for water. We actually had to ask for water 4 times from 4 different people before we got water. While people who ordered drinks received their drinks almost immediately.

I would recommend Carnival for first time cruisers, but not to those who have cruised in the past.

Yes, Isshulman, it was a very awesome experience. Another tip for you when you and your family/group embarks. They will do a training/safety drill and it will take about 30 -35 minutes . Make sure that you have a Drink like Water or Ice tea with you. Chilled one I'd best because it gets warm during the drill. Also, bring a Paper Fan or a Thin Paper card board to fan yourself out to help you cool off because it gets warm during the safety drill. The staff are very helpful though - in case you gets tired, or especially for the Elderly, they will let you sit down on the chair in the front and make sure you're ok. The customer Service Folks especially David from England is soo helpful and so as Sammy also from England, she's great as Dsvid.

Great to hear this positive report on the Conquest. We sail in 60 days. Counting them down.

Just came back from our 1st Cruise via Carnival Conquest with my family of 4 Husband, myself and grown up Kids - 29 and 23 yrs olds two weeks ago. It's a blast but, we came prepared. I've checked the ship mates notes and cruisers comments. It's a big help. Only suggestions: the Debarkment process for Self Service, it was a chaos when they called for 2 different floors luke Riviera and another one - all at the same time. Otherwise, it was a very great and Fun experience. The crew and the Renoir Staff were amazing and the Food were Superb !! We'll go back and do it again :)))

I tip cash for the individual that is taking care of me and also leave gratuity on top of that

Aintnostopping    8 years ago

Most of the time tips are left on a credit card in a restaurant so it's not so easy to stiff the food runner, bus boy. But when you only give cash, it makes it easier to pocket it all. I'm not saying every steward would do that, but when you leave it on the bill it makes sure everyone gets theirs. I would just hate it if someone would miss out since it's how they make their income. Just my opinion

MeeshaMillz    8 years ago

In sure the people "behind the scenes" get their fair share of a tip from the people who leave the included time and don't think they need to tip their immediate staff in addition so I don't think anyone is missing out. I always think it's bet to tip directly tho. That is my opinion.

MeeshaMillz    8 years ago

Well it's like when you go to a restaurant you tip your server not the dish boy or cooks in the back.

Aintnostopping    8 years ago

MeeshaMilz, when you remove the gratuities from your bill there are a lot of behind the scenes workers who lose out. The room steward has workers who assist him and he may or may not share what you have given him. It's such a small amount of money per day for all that you get. I always tip the steward extra, but I would never remove the gratuities. These people work extremely hard and rely on it

MeeshaMillz    8 years ago

Yep! I actually had them remove the gratuity from my bill and tipped as I was served! Always left my room Stewart something when we left the room! We were well taken care of!

Pinkie60    8 years ago

The driverjohnny yes it was. You see they share whatever is written on the tab but if you give them cash, they get to keep it. So they want to serve you for the additional cash they can pocket.

thedriverjohnny    8 years ago

Pinkie, was that on top of the included gratuity?

wadeberry    8 years ago

They work extremely hard and deserve the upmost respect.

Pinkie60    8 years ago

I believe they work hard for their money. I gave our cabin Stewart $100 in the beginning of the cruise. You want to know something, anything I wanted I received and I never had to wait for a drink. That ship was a pleasure but I would imagine if you went on any other ship or any other cruise line with that attitude, you will always have a great time!

Pinkie60    8 years ago

Wadeberry-you are speaking the absolute truth. If you're going to bitch about this cost and this cost me that, then maybe you can't afford to be on a cruise. Or maybe you don't belong on a cruise. When I reviewed my experience on the Conquest, I told everyone that I purchased a alcohol package. And when I was served I gave the bartender cash as a tip. (Cont)

Stop complaining and enjoy and relax your on vacation

lamar1417    8 years ago

this will be my 7th Carnival cruise, 1st on Conquest. During these adventures I have only experience one "bad" cruise and it was partly my fault....booked in march not even considering it was college spring break. The crew was understaffed and over worked

thedriverjohnny    8 years ago

I learned long ago in school that in fact people complain more than compliment when it comes to restaurants and things like that, and I do notice that that is true.

wadeberry    8 years ago

People love to complain!

You`re on vacation...enjoy it!

dswilliams    8 years ago

Was on Conquest in June and going back in Aug. I loved it. Focus on the experience and being with your family!

dswilliams    8 years ago

You should have gone to THe Point steakhouse as that was the BEST meal 10+..... Worth the extra money. Better quality steak. But maybe next time!

Salina1005    8 years ago

I have been cruising with Carnival since I was a child and am going again in just over two months. I've cruised on both the Conquest and Triumph as well as many other ships and as most people on this forum will tell you, a cruise is what you make it... It's so sad that people go on a vacation and instead of looking for the positives and enjoying the experience they focus on the negative

blueknightbert    8 years ago

I have been on 6 Carnival Cruises. I loved each and every one if them. Going on my 7th in 21 days. I guess it's all what you make it yourself.
