A truly extraordinary cruise. It’s also nice to see the Carnival is cracking down on the shenanigans; I noticed extra security presence to cut down on the recent fights that have been going on in recent months and even drug dogs to cut back on folks trying sneak on various forms of cannabis onto the ship. Good job Carnival and keep up the good work!
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Super fast; it took about 20 minutes from start to finish to board the ship.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Very flavorful but a few on the dining options was just warm; had the food in a couple of the dining venues been a little bit warmer, I would have given them 5 stars.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
I was cruising with a small group of family members and there was always something going on to appeal to each and every one of us.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Entertainment was great; however as for the stage shows at center stage, if you don’t get there at least 40 minutes early, you can forget about getting a good seat and in some instances, a seat at all.
Children's Programs
I was cruising with my adult kids.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
I have always received nothing less than stellar customer service from all facets of Carnival staff; with them seeing about 6000 passengers per week, I still don’t know how the cabin stewards remembers everyones name.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
A simply beautiful ship. The only suggestion for improvement is to implement the the smart elevators like the ones used on the Carnival Panorama to help disperse the elevator crowds.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Very clean and comfortable; also lots of closet space and very nice decor.
Ship tip
Choose the my time dining so that you will have a choice between the Chi-bang Mexican / Asian fusion restaurant, the Cucina Del Capitano Italian Restaurant and the main dining room for dinner.
All very nice; however Costa Maya was extremely crowded with 3 mega ships in port at the same time which was the Carnival Celebration, the MSC Sea Side and the Norwegian Escape; so we opted to take a cab to a beach outside of the cruise port area.
