Review summary

I was on the Carnival Breeze cruise from July 22-27th out of the Galveston port. On July 26, I had an encounter with Jesus Roel. As I my husband and I walked passed countless staff members throwing pictures in large garbage bags, I saw a couple of my photos that were not so great, but I took a picture a picture before it needed up in a garbage bag with all the other photos. As my husband and I walked away from a stack of our picture, Roel yelled out and called my husband and I thieves. He said that we need to pay for pictures we stole. We did not steal any pictures: therefore, we were confused and told him that we didn’t take anything and walked to our room. On the 27th of July, we awakened to a stack of 5 pictures and a receipt for that showed $22.93 for each photo on on door (check# 138409859). I went to speak with Roel on July 27th at approx. 7:00 a.m. He explained that I could not take pictures of the photos the were trashing the night of the 26th. I told him I did not see a sign that said that. He showed me the tiny sign. I told him I did not see that sign. It needs to be bigger. He proceeded to say that I was a thief. His tone was rude. The night of the 26th, he or the woman never stated that it is against the rules to take a cellphone picture of a photo. He or she never tried to explain. Roel was nasty and quite frankly his tone seems a bit micro-aggressive. Roel continuously yelled “you pay, you pay now!” As we explained we didn’t take anything and walked away. He was full of rage. And it seemed unwarranted and unfit for the incident that took place. In the end, I bought two of the pictures he claimed I stole. My complaint is about Roel’s hostility and lack of consideration. The photos were all being trashed that night. They were being placed in large garbage bags. Therefore, I did not see the harm in taking a picture of 1 photo. Again, I did not see the very small sign. I took photos throughout the day on the cruise ship. I understand that the Carnival cruise lines make millions of dollars from customers every year. My $8,000 may be insignificant to the cruise line. However, that money was a portion of my saving to take my family on a cruise this summer. This incident ruined the last night of my cruise. The situation could have been handled with care. Yelling that we are thieves first without explaining and extending grace to the issue was terribly disturbing.

What I expected. Fine

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

Average. If you not spending money to purchase items that are not included, the host come off as rude or snobby. It is unfortunate how the crew members are told to pressure guest to spend more money, even in the dinning hall.

Average. If you not spending money to purchase items that are not included, the ship personal comes off as rude or snobby. It is unfortunate how the crew members are told to pressure guest to spend more money, even in the dinning hall. I bought a drink and the facial expression changed from a judge frown to a pleasant smile.

I'm just really confused. I thought they quit printing the photos out long ago. Why would they be throwing away bags of photos?

Yeah, sorry, that was theft. He should have handled it better, but you did steal that picture. And the sign telling you not to do that isn't tiny - it's actually quite visible. If you want a picture, pay for it. If you don't, walk away.

Glad you mostly enjoyed your cruise. It’s a shame you tried to twist the rules to get a picture without paying for it and was caught. You are definitely not the victim here, and won’t find a lot of sympathy with most of these dedicated cruisers. Part of cruising involves learning what to do to have a great time. It also involves learning what NOT to do.

so, should he have called you that? no. however, technically it is stealing.

That is very poor customer service. Yes taking a photo of their photo is theft, no doubt. But that employee was out of line the way he treated you. Calling you names exposes the cruise line to certain liabilities and certainly is out of line. It certainly leaves a bad taste to an otherwise enjoyable getaway.

Everyone knows there is such thing as copy rights. The carnival employee should have acted better but you should have known better. Best of luck in the future
