Review summary

Overall we really enjoyed ourselves and spending time with the Carnival staff. We noticed how kind everyone was, even if they were roaming around the ship "off the clock" (i.e. we met the Director of Hospitality at one point and she gave us some tidbits about the ship we were parked next to). As soon as we got home my partner was already looking at new cruises to potentially book. A note about the app: I found it difficult to find room service information and the different menus for different times of the day. In addition, I wish there was a place where you could see all hours of the buffet in one place. It was confusing to know when it was closed as they prepare for the next meal. It would also be nice to receive an email of the receipt you give us on our last day. It was also listed within the app, but that disappeared as soon as the cruise ended (which was frustrating). I like to have physical and virtual copies of charges/receipts.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Easy and somewhat seamless with the Verifly + Carnival apps

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food took a long time (1.5 hrs!) when we went to the dining room, and the food was sub-par. We did not return because it just didn't feel worth it! Loved the buffet - I REALLY appreciated how strong the coffee was in the morning :-)

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Enjoyed them, wish there were more actual pool options - they were always packed to the brim and I would prefer an adult-only pool (NOT jacuzzi)

Entertainment

3 out of 5
We went to all three stage shows. They were good! We were impressed with the variety of talents from such a small cast of 8. Our only gripe is that a lot of the music was old - I love classics, don't get me wrong, but there are so many incredible modern musicals and movies to mix into the shows. We actually left "Flicks" early - it felt very old school and as though it was trying to cater to an older audience. We were somewhat bored as a millennial audience. I'd love to see more variety, especially since the cast is so vivacious and multi-talented!

Children's Programs

We don't have kids :-)

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Y'all were truly top notch and friendly, ESPECIALLY our room steward on floor 6, Yudha! He was always greeting us in the hallway and even shared a little bit of his Carnival career journey. I hope this dude gets promoted!!

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The layout seemed very intentional and easy to navigate - we quickly figured out where things were and how to get there. Loved the layout. Design - wise....it seemed very "Carnival" and on-brand.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
It was fine - we enjoyed the balcony, the bed was pretty comfortable, and our room was always clean, which is saying a lot because (and not to call out by bf) left it pretty messy on most days with clothes and plates lying about.

Disembarkation

2 out of 5
Overall, we were leaving our room and off the ship in probably 20 mins. It was speedy and we both really appreciated that. The "poor" rating is the discrepancy in timelines we were given the night before debarkation and the morning of. We were told 8:30, but were getting called to leave the ship at around 7:15am. We felt very rushed and like we had to leave right away, leaving us without breakfast and a little bit grumpy. It would have been completely different if the expectation was set the night before that we may want to be packed and ready to leave the ship closer to 7am. We don't mind leaving the ship early (and understand the quick turnaround for cleaning before the next cruisers!!), but it was the surprise that left us feeling off-guard.

Appreciate your detailed review. How we keep the digital copy of our “bill” is take a screenshot. That might help in the future. Happy you enjoyed yourselves so much that you are looking for the next one!

Agree with them on the staff, great people. I do not worry about getting off at my assigned time, figure there are enough line jumpers that I can relax, graze, and go at a later time.
